The problem is, if we bring the young guys in, we might play badly and lose.

...

That'll do them the world of good, chucking them in at the deep end...

This. He was a really good player at Forest in a system that suited him. This is Eddie all over at present - there is only one system, EVER.
There is no attempt to build around the strengths of the players we have. Could it have been foreseen that Elanga has rubber feet and no brain? Who knows, but you work with what you have and try to create conditions where they can thrive and succeed regardless. This guy has got no chance under Eddie and I do have some sympathy for him.

This is really where I'm at right now, unfortunately.

There's too many players not performing and the manager has to figure things out to get more out of them.

There doesn't seem to be any specific plan out there. Howe has spoken of a fluid system, but these players aren't good enough to have that kind of freedom.

The wingers are suffering the most as they're all pretty one dimensional in different ways, but aren't being positioned to capitalise on their srengths.

A better tactical approach would improve the team significantly, even with the set of players we're watching at the minute.

He was awful yesterday, but I have less of an issue with that than the cowardly Barnes performance. Or Murphy for their second. Effort is the bare minimum we can expect and it’s not something I would criticise Elanga for.

Yeah, the only thing I would say about Elanga is didn't go hiding yesterday unlike Barnes and quite a few others.

About as much good as never playing them.

There's definitely something in between the two though. I think Phil Foden is a good example of how to slowly integrate a young player.

Give Park a few games, he’s supposed to be doing well for the reserves and we ain’t got much to play for this season anyway.

Had a dream last night he scored a 25 yard winner in final game at SJP for a 1-0 relegation prevention. Clearly bollocks as we kept a clean sheet.

I am a big critic of Elanga, and think he's been incredibly terrible. But its not worth selling him at a huge loss, given his age, quite yet.

As said above, I'd sell Gordon and Murphy and try to get 2 replacements in. Keep Elanga and Barnes as backup and pray they stop being chod.

It's the exact same points being mentioned again too.

All pace. Just a transition player. His fbref passing is poor. Too expensive. Not good enough for where we need to get to etc.

If he joins we'll soon see.

Think we've seen this now.

How was he cowardly like ?  He tried but fuck all came off for him, the full back had his measure. So much of this ridiculous patter surfacing on here in the face of defeat

Easy to integrate in a great team when the game is won in 20mins over the years and can hand out 30+mins comfortably per game.

I don't think Elanga is all pace at all, if anything I think he gets too much criticism when he doesn't play with all pace.

When I watched his highlights before he joined I thought he was good off both feet and his decision-making was pretty good too. I didn't get the impression his game was just knock and run at all. I mean, he scored a great goal for Sweden with his left foot the other week.

This is why I suspect we were trying to add more technical ability to our squad and not 'just' sign athletes. Although he is very quick he was meant to be a technical upgrade on Murphy. Ramsey, Woltemade and Thiaw are also technically pretty sound.

He's clearly better than what he's shown since he's been here

Bloody hope so , that said his ball control (or the lack of it) is absolutely shocking. Some of the worst I have seen.

Looks like a different player on this. I feel like he just struggled to adapt to the move, mostly psychological probably.

Of course Forest were playing explicitly counterattacking football, but still.
