Wouldn't cough up 60 for him, big risk, not for me, if he has a sell on clause why should we subsidise that, not our problem.

What's the big risk?

The tiki-taka approach to low blocks can really only be done as an entire team approach though. It can’t be done by adding one technical player to the Howe system.

Sure if they can run all day and also pick a pass, great.

This is accurate, Pedro would have given us options but he alone was by no means the key to unlocking a low block.

Every side struggles against low blocks but you don’t need a Pep technical level Man City side to beat one, power and pace can disrupt a low block in transition as much as taking them apart with technical precision can. Elanga would be as effective as Murphy is if not more vs a low block.

May upset dressing room, may not fit in here, maybe cheaper and better options abroad.

Are those not applicable to any footballer?

There’s absolutely no evidence that he’d upset the dressing room or wouldn’t fit in. In fact all signs point to the opposite with his posting vids with Osula and some of our players commenting on his ig. He’s also compatriots with Krafth and Isak. Almost couldn’t be a better fit.

Who are the better options?

It's a bit scary if we're at the point that it's Elanga or nobody.

I haven't seen Forest being linked with any wingers so I'm assuming we're far from a deal here.

Didn’t say that, just asked who the better options are, out of interest.

He never said its Elanga or nobody though? Is it not Elanga (Plan A), and then players who are not as highly rated as Plan B, C, D etc

If it's Elanga or nobody why are we even bothering to employ any scouts?

There's obviously other targets, I've got no idea why we're seemingly hung up on Anthony Elanga though.

Dunno mate. I wouldn't expect our scouts to be able to do my job either though, so there is that.

It's a bit strange considering our huge success with signing players from other leagues pre 2024. Bruno, Botman, Isak, and Tonali. 4 purples signed for a very good price. Technically Trippier aswell, but everyone knew he was mint.

Funny thing is both Arsenal and Man City have struggled against low blocks recently.

Running out of time as they continue to pass side to side to side to side the whole game, and then getting slapped on the counter

Pace is also good for a low block. Sterling at City scored about 400 goals running to the byline and Howe had Almiron doing the same. Elanga is two footed too, he'll terrorise defences.

Add to this Shaggers precision pinging into the spaces for Elanga and Gordon to run into.

No, but if one’s view is that there are better options available than Elanga, surely you’ve considered what some of those options are in order to form that view? It seems strange to say there are better options than Elanga but be unable / unwilling to identify any. I don’t really think the comparison to your job is relevant, because the subject matter of the conversation is literally the scouts’ job. In my view that’s false equivalence.

Question.

If Isak is very keen on the idea of Elanga joining and would like to play with him at club level, and thinks they'd link up very well at Newcastle, how much do you think that should be taken into account?

And should it factor in when it comes to whatever decision is made on this? So for example, perhaps pushing the boat out a little bit more to the tune of another £5 to £10 million?

I don't think £60m is too much in this market and for a position that has badly needed improvement since before the takeover. Elanga looks good, is wanted by Eddie and already has friendships within the squad, it's a total no-brainer for me.

Let’s ask Isak who he think we should sign at RCB too then.  And a CM.
