Fulham 3-1 Newcastle United (21/09/24)

Recommended Posts

Pope letting in a super soft goal. Fulham hitting the crossbar. Schär missing a sitter. Howe stubborn. Yes, that one sub at half-time worked wonders, but he should've made three subs at half-time. Minimum. Bruno not a very impressive captain. We're extremely fragile at left back. Yes, Hall is good at times. At times. It's like his brain disappears every now and then. Will get better with more experience, but right now we're lacking in some areas.

Not a fun day for us Newcastle fans, but we go again on Tuesday. Hopefully a good game and a little bit of a condidence boost before the game against Manchester City.

Have a great rest of the weekend, guys and gals! :aww:

Cup game is Tuesday, not Wednesday.

Ominous shot of Mitchell, Eales and Bunce. Far too easy to read whatever you want into the wry smiles. Bunce looked like he wished he was anywhere else!

He’s performance director. Didn’t see much of a performance there.

Hate it when people say we go again.

On the upside, Pope's shocking first half blunders made me not even not even notice whether his distribution was any better.

Even when we were trying in the second half, we had a mix of players wanting to move the ball quickly and create and other players at walking pace trying to slow it down. Team doesn't seem at all unified in approach.

Due that result. Was hoping to be seeing an upswing in performances but if anything going the other way. Not quite clear why several of our players just dont seem on it. I was optimistic this season that despite the transfer window we would have near our best 11 our and firing, unfortunately it seems you do need to evolve your squad continuously.

Team needed refreshing in January, we got no one. It needed refreshing in summer, we brought in a League One keeper, a Championship striker and a second choice CB from Bournemouth.

The club has failed Howe for two consecutive windows and it’ll be him who loses his job for the team going stale.

Pathetic game overall.

Bruno shouldn't be captain.

He also isn't a deep CM. Our best play is when he's in opposition half looking for a killer ball. He's wasted deep.

Isak is useless as a lone striker without supply.

Hall isn't good enough yet.... but think he can come good eventually.

It's amazing we have to rely on Burn still. He was a stop gap signing.

Gordon needs to give his head a wobble. He isn't the same player.

It's ridiculous Murphy gets time and we haven't signed someone to keep him down the pecking order.

Joelinton blows too hot or cold. He's lost his way.

Tactically we are very poor and predictable. Howe doesn't seem to know what to change. He's too rigid.

It was a bit better second half but damage was done and eventually we were punished again.

I've shrugged off the news around Howe/Mitchell fall out - but their dog shit transfer window means we still have to play some seriously limited players.

Villa nick it at the end to ensure everyone that we are in the mix with has won today too.

Man City next week. Absolutely fantastic ...

But we have full weeks on the training ground. And with no chance of the same injury situation repeating itself this season we are prime CL contenders we were told when the window closed.

A much-needed punch in the mouth.

We didn't have a perfect transfer window, we don't have a perfect squad, but we have more than enough than talent and depth in the squad to be much better than what's been shown.

Not sure if Howe doesn't know his best XI, or if he's tinkering to gameplan for opponents (which would strike me as somewhat obsequious), but either way he will sink or swim this season.

In the end should have probably got something bit can't feel too aggrieved when we were so bad and have rode our luck before this match. Shite, been coming.

Pope: 5

Trippier: 5

Schar: 4.5

Burn: 6

Kelly: 5 Hall: 6

Bruno: 4

Joelinton: 4.5 Tonali 6

Willock: 5 Murphy: 5

Gordon: 4

Isak: 4.5

Barnes: 6.5

Not sure what Tonali did to deserve a 6. Him kicking an easy ball down the line to Murphy out for a goal kick was frustrating.

The decision making and passing in the final third was abysmal all game
