Hard to be mad when a ref is beating you

It’s not just the ref though. Our attacking play is toothless, set pieces really bad, set piece marking poor, passing not good - we’re really bad away from home, every time. It’s not good enough from the manager.

We've controlled a lot of the ball, but had very, very little threat on their goal. It is standard for us with these players and this system.

They've been lucky to score.  Lucky the referee gave them that corner which led to the goal, when it was clearly a goal kick. Lucky the referee and VAR ignored the clear penalty on Willock. Lucky the referee has let Yates run around fouling unchecked.

So VAR can get involved and advise the ref that Burn should get a yellow, but not advise him on the elbow, and knee high scrape on Longstaff. So Yates sits there with no yellow, ridiculous. Just shows how badly run of refereeing is, two bob amateur useless tossers.

I wish they'd notice Hall's availability a bit more sometimes. Was shouting to absolutely no one when Bruno became obsessed with laying the ball back off to Big Joe down the right when Hall had acres of space just outside the middle of the box. The lad can hit it. Give him more chances to do so.

Not a bad half all in all. One shit set piece and an absolute dogshit set of officials going against us.

We’ve been alright but Forest are defending really well, no space in the middle at all. This would be a match for Wilson if he was available. Gordon has to do something, walking back from offside after not getting the ball looks really bad. Taylor has obviously been shocking.

Very well is a stretch imo. We've been passable at best imo.

They're a good team this year, especially defensively.

If we keep up this level of play we are going to open them up second half IMO.

Think we're just playing straight into their hands here.

Aimless crosses into the box which are easy to clear, too slow in the build up and allowing them to counter attack. Slowly losing our heads too

Can't see us scoring

Yeah we're playing how they want us to. Ref not helping but we're shooting ourselves in the foot too.

Got a £50 million Italian international on the bench that he either doesn’t know how to utilise properly or refuses to.

Tbh, we massively overpaid for that Italian and he hasn't exactly looked like he'd do a great deal when he's had the chance.

Barnes on the other hand...

Based on what though? We haven’t opened up a side all season.

Performance hasn't been that bad, but as usual we're taking too long to do anything in attack, our set pieces are the worst in the league, and our defence is soft. The ref is a complete joke as well, so a lovely day on the road so far

Good summary

Also, Notts Forest are not very good. They just defend in numbers, try to run it out wide and rely on lumping it to Sarge.

We should be winning this easily.

They're clearly a decent side. Usual matchday wet from you.

Hall and Willock the standout so far. Isak and Gordon both having poor games by their standards.

Other than one lapse defending a set piece this has been a good away performance against a well drilled and in form side.

Tonali for Longstaff and keep the Willock/Joelinton setup.

Positives:

Lots of possession

Not so good:

-Easy to get at on the counter with midfield offering little protection for the defence.

-Passing not crisp.

-Not taking the responsibility to shoot and going for another pass instead

-players receiving the ball and there’s a easy lay off to a teammate but instead turn the other way and lose the ball.
