our main problem is how good this Liverpool team is this season 

 

they'll be super confident and won't feel any pressure

 

just another of many finals for them, even if they lose they still have the league and maybe CL 

 

whereas our lot will be a bag of nerves especially the fans 

 

I think we'll need a large slice of luck to have any chance, judging by yesterday that seems remote 

 

maybe siege mentality being massive underdog is the best approach

They are probably 80-90% to win the game, but all we can do is get into them and see what happens. 
 

As long as we have Bruno and Isak I believe we have people who can find a way to score a goal. 
 

Will be very interesting how we approach it.

Probably so, bit like Arsenal away. Just my worry (it's same whatever approach we take) we haven't looked like locking a side out confidently all season. Get we beat Arsenal 2-0 away, but we was helped immensely by Havertz being Havertz and missing sitters. Even at home, it was Odegaard sitter. We're going to need the same again, and Salah to have a very unusual game and him miss chances of same level.

 

But I'm not optimistic we can restrict Liverpool to pot shots from distance, they will carve out one or two clear chances as every side seems to do against us.

I don't know if it's the Mike Ashley years, but a lot of our fans seem to thrive on negativity, unable to enjoy the European qualification or cup finals in recent years without worrying or immediately looking ahead.

 

Wor Flags are class, but as soon as the match kicks off fans are immediately on the players backs, moaning and groaning at and misplaced pass.

 

It shows on here too. You can list the posters who will become more vocal during a rough patch, immediately getting stuck into the players and the manager.

 

I honestly don't know what's keeping me tied to football at the moment. The sport as a whole is in the doldrums, the club is owned by a morally repugnant regime and our fans are incredibly loathsome. I can honestly see me packing it on in the next five to ten years, I get far more joy out of other sports these days.

It might seem bizarre but what happened yesterday might be the catalyst to a different approach from Eddie.

 

Before yesterday we might have bounced into the game expecting to play our usual 433 and we'd have likely been torn up. Now I'm thinking it may have forced us into a different tactical approach.

 

I love Gordon but him missing out is no way the deciding factor. Hall being missing is much worse, for example.

The one hope I have with it is when Man Utd went to Anfield at the turn of the year and everyone thought they were lambs to the slaughter, but Liverpool couldn’t get going, it was like the pressure of people expecting a big performance got to them and it finished 2-2.

 

We are the outsiders for this and rightly so, but it isn’t impossible.

We didn't play 4-3-3 the last two games, mind.  If anything, I'd like to see us go back to it.  As it seemed arguably even easier to get between our midfield and defence. 

 

Especially seeing as the left hand side has taken a big hit.  In losing the starting LB and LW for at least 3 games by the looks of it.  The return of Big Joe and Little Joe on that side might shore us up a bit.  It worked to some degree earlier in the season.  I think it was Arsenal and Forest where that helped us turn round the dodgy run of form.  Although I have it in my head Joelinton actually played most of the Forest game on the right.

Whole post is spot on but especially this bit. Really enjoy the community around the kids football and going to local non league far more than Newcastle thesedays

Yesterday was a 433. Joe played further forward when pressing but that doesn't change what the actual formation is.

 

Although I agree that it didn't work.
