Me. By all accounts it was shite being there watching us lose and I can tell you It was shite watching it back here watching us lose. 

 

I'm happy that we're competing and I'm happy with the direction of the club. Am I looking forward to this particular final? No, not remotely.

Yep. I was half quietly confident against Man U. But that soon went to shit. 
 

My expectations for his final are a lot lower. They are as their odds suggest, heavy favourites (80% chance). But teams have overcome worse before. 
 

Usually in a final. You’re going to be playing against a top side or at the very least, you’ll have to have beaten a side better than you along the way. Not many, myself included, gave us a prayer against Arsenal over two legs. Yet we done them 4-0.

What frustrates people is that we will be going into this final as underdogs largely due to PSR restrictions. Playing a side that are winning the league and while we are bringing Osula, an aging permacrock and an abundance of championship level midfielders off the bench, they have Jota, Elliott, Jones, Gakpo etc. who would walk into our team.

 

Plus they will likely be taking Isak at the end of the season for the same reasons, we have been nobbled by PSR

I expect us to lose, but the blind hope always creeps in closer to the time. I just really hope we at least make a good attempt to make a game of it. I can cope with losing to a better side (which they obviously are) but the manner of some of our defeats have been so self-inflicted it leads to a fairly depressing feeling.

We can no longer be happy just to be there but I agree in that we are knocking on the door and one day we'll kick it in. This is a one off game. Underdogs sometimes win football matches. We'd be raking it in at the bookies if the outcome of games was that easy. It's probably bottom of Liverpool's priorities and cup finals are run of the mill for them where as surely our lot must be up for a cup final. Especially as they must have the memory of letting us and them down in 2023.

We put 3 past them at St James' earlier in the season, have beat the team in 2nd 3 times this season without conceding a goal, beat the team in 3rd twice. When we turn up, we can score goals/beat anyone.

Dearly hope that the NUFC fans in the ground go into it remembering that this team is capable of delivering absolutely massive performances on big occasions. I understand why people might be pessimistic or predict a defeat, but the mopey shite is painful to read. It really isn't beyond the realms of possibility at all that we do it. Literally just having Alexander Isak in the team gives us a chance. 

 

We've had a few sickening results this season (the most recent one taking the biscuit) but in the recent past we've seen some momentous games from these lads. If we take the version of ourselves that we saw in the semis into the final, I genuinely think we'll nick it. I honestly do. It's a cliché and it undermines the tactical and technical performance - but we wanted it more than Arsenal, and I think we'll want it more than Liverpool too.

 

I think Gordon will be a miss but I expect monstrous performances from the likes of Big Joe (who's always good against Liverpool), Bruno (whose leadership style will suit the occasion), Dan Burn (no poems this time) and Isak. 

 

If nothing else, we definitely break the duck here. We'll score. Then all we need to do is defend. 

 

I genuinely believe and I honestly can't wait. Don't dread it, lads, please. You deserve to look forward to it and you deserve to feel hopeful. We've endured an awful lot of shite so don't squander these special times with dread.
