Birmingham City 2-3 Newcastle United [FACR4] (08/02/25)

Recommended Posts

I thought Osula, Targett and Krafth were really good today coming in.

Tonali was exceptional

Tino was poor

Willock was excellent in spells as well

Wilson scored, did ok but didn't look like he used to. He looks a lot lighter.

Longstaff, probably the worst I've ever seen him or any other footballer play

Miley I thought was poor as well but he's young and he was trying and had good few moments.

Hard won victory, would have lost that in days gone by. Shows a new steely professionalism now imbued in the team.

Spot on. We didn't blink. Just carried on with the gameplay. Not once did we get caught up by the opponents trying to hack us off the pitch.

Osula man of the match for me. Fought the entire game and probably should have had about 12 more free-kicks and 2-3 yellow cards to the other team. Hope he doesnt end up getting the joelinton treatment where its ok to basically tackle and drag him from behind all game because he is big.

Why the fuck would you bring Isak on

If they'd lumped it from the FK and equalised he's on for extra time saving the extra sub window for if it's needed. They lump it and don't score, he walks off after 30secs.

Really enjoyed that. The lads did very well to get through that with a positive result, because they're a decent side but also a filthy one who made it uncomfortable.

Pope - 8

Tino - 7

Krafth - 6

Burn - 6

Targett - 6

Bruno - 6 / Tonali - 8

Miley - 7

Osula - 8 (MOTM)

Tough game. Played against the ref as much as Birmingham. Dirty cloggers.  Really impressed with Osula with his determination to drive forwards. Willock had a poor game but took his goals well. Tonali really helped us in the muck and bullets in midfield in the second half and allowed Miley to play his more natural position and he did far better.  Longstaffs done. Looks clueless, slow and unfit. Twice couldn't even clear his box the night. The fight in the dog as Sir Bobby said got us through . Howay The Lads !!

Willock got the motm cos he scored twice. Obviously amazing but there were better motm candidates. Osula for one. He ran himself into the ground.

For me pretty close between them.

Osula really don't look like a footballer, but credit where its due he battled his heart out against some nasty lower league clogging defenders.

If it wasn't decided already, Longstaff surely secured his spot as 6th choice CM behind Willock and Miley today.

Great result, and we managed to rest all key players so the team is fresh for the league battle.

Probably my favourite game of our season.  First half rip roaring absolute chaos. Second half an absolute heap of shite with just lots of kicking and injuries. Feral crowd. No VAR. The beautiful game.

Absolutely, well summarised. As "what it's all about" as it gets.

Credit to Birmingham for their part in it, even the disgusting stuff.

A scrappy 2-3 at Birmingham - all that was missing was our keeper getting kicked in the head by one of their arseholes and having to play concussed.

Sure the referee would have obliged. Deriliction of duty from him tonight, ran the risk of injury from early on, most of that crossed the line from playing hard and would have been considered dirty decades ago.
