Damage limitation tonight - avoided a pasting, hopefully any new injuries and Isak rested. Although it's disappointing we haven't really tried to lay a glove on them.

I've watched coverage with John Champion and Jim Beglin on comms - very biased towards the scousers. :thdn:

:anguish: all of a sudden mccoist seems palatable.

Boglin hates us. Never forgave us for qualifying for the second stage of the CL in 2002/03 when Liverpool didn't so he had to commentate on us instead of them.

Proper bellsniffer.

Another wasted evening watching us play Salah United the darlings of the media. Another toothless, impotent display away from home against a "big 6" side and we only have our own mentality to blame for that.

In the grand scheme of things it's not worth getting puffed about, but it's them, AGAIN. I'd swallow it all with another side helping of 90 minutes of verbal falatio for Salah for a win at Wembley though, that's all that matters.

0 shots on target.

Yeh but that's just looking at a single aspect of the game, no doubt an important one, but you can score goals playing shite.

Clearly we were lacking upfront, and it was by no means a good performance but neither was it bad imo. Just average, can't massively criticise anyone just beaten by a team that had pretty much a better player in every position and in hot form.

It is what it is.

End of the tummy tickling and some think we played ok Liverpool didn't need to get out of second gear tonight. That's two away games in a row where we just stood off players for the entire game

You reckon these players are holding a bit back for a day out at Wembley?

That was the most bog standard/ generic Newcastle at Anfield performance there ever was, it was like both sets of players knew what the end result was, and just went through the motions to make it happen. Everything felt flat and personally I have zero emotion towards that at all, not anger, disappointment or annoyance, nothing, we played a better team and lost, and didn't disgrace ourselves. I won't lose any sleep over it.

I don't even think it was that bad a performance, and that we where particularly terrible, we were competitive, and we had the odd half chance, it was just meh. Hall did well I thought.

Couldn't care less about the scoreline, it's the sense of complete resignation in our play that bothers me. We didn't have a shot on target despite having plenty of the ball, kept letting them get back into their shape for some reason, and our style and intent didn't change from nil nil to 1 nil to 2 nil.

Didn't even think Liverpool were good, they went just as much through the motions of winning as we did losing. It's been a long time since the league's had such ordinary winners. Lewis Hall was the only player that really showed his quality and he had 10x a harder job than anyone else. Everyone else was a good few notches below their ability.

Pope: 5

Livramento: 6

Schär: 6

Burn: 6

Hall: 8.5

Bruno: 5.5

Tonali: 6

Willock: 5

Murphy: 5

Wilson: 4

Gordon: 5
