RS Posted Thursday at 07:21 Share Posted Thursday at 07:21 Very much like Man City, the team looked resigned to defeat even before they conceded. That losers mentality doesn’t bode well for the final.
Cronky Posted Thursday at 07:33 Share Posted Thursday at 07:33 I don't think Eddie was playing his full hand, and Slot realises that. There's still some hope for Wembley, even though at the end it felt like men against boys. Isak makes a big difference. Bad sight of the night was Gordon insisting on taking that free kick in the second half instead of Schar. I hope Eddie has a word with him.
Hanshithispantz Posted Thursday at 07:40 Share Posted Thursday at 07:40 It was a weird game, Liverpool were desperate to give us a chance and any side even half on it scores a couple. Salah and Diaz scare the shit out of me. We have to press them in the final.

Didn’t give up loads of chances and we were playing against a far better side. I thought there were similarities with how soft and tame it all was, though. No real intensity or belief. It had the feel of a friendly, there was no real intensity from either side. While they were clearly better, they capitalised on two sloppy bits of defending. The Butcher Posted Thursday at 08:55 Share Posted Thursday at 08:55 We let Trent go the full 90 without testing him. Just like Rico Lewis. The obvious weak spots in both sides. Just don't get it.
Jamesmcc222 Posted Thursday at 08:57 Share Posted Thursday at 08:57 (edited) Honestly not too disheartened about it and hope the players aren’t either. The final coming up and Liverpool basically having already won the league gave it a really odd backdrop in which players largely went through the motions. I think 2-0 or 3-1 was always going to be the result. Saying all this I don’t think they look perfect and the cup will be a completely different occasion. We as fans have to go in with the expectation that we can win, I’m confident the players will. The threat of Isak completely changes the dynamic, with him this could have been seen as a good counterattacking performance. Largely limited chances and made a couple ourselves. They are clearly favourites but we have a fighters chance, and that’s enough for me. Edited Thursday at 08:57 by Jamesmcc222

Had all the hallmarks of a pre-season friendly.

Everybody understands that we can go to Anfield, play well and still end up losing. Yesterday we did not play well and there were some really poor performances and also poor decisions from the manager. I don't know why is that so hard to take for some. I can't remember many games under Bruce that were described as being a "free hit". No issue at all if people aren't happy with the performance, but got little time for those who spent the build up to the game happily pointing out they expect us to get a hiding, only to then make out that it's not acceptable. I can't think of one loss where the consensus on here has been that while we played well, the opponent played better and deserved the win. Wilson is shot to bits. Schar seems on the decline. Willock looks past his best. The effects of very little recruitment the last few windows is starting to show. It feels like a big refresh is needed in the summer. hoepfully none of them start the final.

When Tonali loses the ball, there’s 4 Liverpool players on the right wing with Burn tasked with marking all of them. Gordons bitching on about not being passed the ball and not even jogging back, Bruno Hall, Tonali jogging back and fuck knows why but Willock’s stood up front. It’s so, so poor and absolutely basic football to get back as fast as possible when you lose the ball. hopefully Howes plays that back to them. Gallowgate Toon Posted Thursday at 12:02 Share Posted Thursday at 12:02 Defending for the first goal was so poor. We had about 6 players in the box to their 3 but we just decided to leave Szob free on the penalty spot for some reason.
Stottie Posted Thursday at 12:56 Share Posted Thursday at 12:56 Anfield curse, them flying, and no Isak mean 2-0 is a decent result that most of us would have taken at kickoff. The nuts and bolts of it weren't pretty. The downpour offerred a chance for some good old-fashioned "don't like it up em" battling, but the lads didn't have it in their legs. Presumably they would have tracked the runners for both goals otherwise. Make it like the SJP game and we'll have a chance in the final. Isak is essential. Maybe Botman and big Joe for chaos too.
