Newcastle United 1-2 Brighton & Hove Albion - 02/03/2025

What the hell was Gordon thinking? Stupid, stupid, stupid and will now miss the final v Liverpool you would think.

We've not been great 2nd half at all, but as good as Brighton have been - they've also had the run of the ball.

This has been a shocking referee performance.

I know his reputation as a ref isn't the best, but he's highlighted here how he simply just makes it up as he goes.

He is so terrible.

Why do we hit injury time and every single time we play the slowest football imaginable

You would think we would be trying to pepper the box at that time. Happens when we are losing as well.

When we need to slow it down during game we fire it forward and when we need to get something slow and patient, so annoying.

Got to get Osula on for our final sub.

Going to be SO FUCKING PISSED when it’s Longstaff.

Do we still get an extra sub when it gets to ET or was that scrapped when they ruined the game by allowing 5 subs?

Almost comical how much this game has fucked our season. Hall injured beforehand, Gordon banned for the final and Isak potentially off with an injury. Laughs

Got to win to make up for it, or it’s going to be so tough to take.

Should be pointed out, where a player commits a foul to stop a promising attack but advantage is played (i.e. the attack isn't stopped) then the player isn't cautioned:

"Advantage

If the referee plays the advantage for an offence for which a caution/sending-off would have been issued had play been stopped, this caution/sending-off must be issued when the ball is next out of play. However, if the offence was denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour; if the offence was interfering with or stopping a promising attack, the player is not cautioned."
