Too many players are adopting this approach for it not to be the case. Personally hate it and it makes it even harder for the keeper than it already is. The stop start ones should be banned I reckon. Like everything though. Coaches and keepers will adapt to it. Like Pope did last night. He isn’t very good at saving pens historically I don’t think. Even his old man says his brother is better at them but FWIW. He stopped Toney’s run of consecutive pens when he didn’t flinch for his ‘look at the keeper’ slow run up. Think he's decent at them. huss9 Posted Thursday at 09:24 Share Posted Thursday at 09:24 nick pope - feinted to his right just enough to lull Eze in on the penalty. i think it was clever.
Superior Acuña Posted Thursday at 09:27 Share Posted Thursday at 09:27 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJPWEjNnyTU Was such a lovely move at 1:33, was gutted it didn't go in. Lovely Tonali crossball, lovely little touch from Trippier, lovely ball in from Murphy.
ponsaelius Posted Thursday at 09:33 Share Posted Thursday at 09:33 Pope's penalty records in games isn't that great. Transfermarkt has it at 4 saved from 32 faced - although this appears to miss his save from Toney away at Brentford for some reason. So would be 5/33 - not terrible but not top draw. However he did save 3 in that shootout against Palace for us.

Forest this season they were both bad misses from Forest players, and Blackburn/Chelsea last year were Dubravka in goal. Hennessey was in goal when we lost to Burnley. joeyt Posted Thursday at 09:49 Share Posted Thursday at 09:49 that's me told Still feel I have more confidence in him than most of our ex keepers at penalties. Probably because for all his faults, his strongest attribute is his shot stopping
Gallowgate Toon Posted Thursday at 13:53 Share Posted Thursday at 13:53 Watching the highlights back and Bruno still doing so much (under the radar) good. Shame about that one pap through ball.
STM Posted Thursday at 13:55 Share Posted Thursday at 13:55 Yeah in the last few games Sandro has been our best midfielder but Joelinton was very good against MU and Bruno had a good game last night. It's so weird seeing Bruno outshone.

We forced him to be Mr. Everything for 2 seasons (which he did very, very well imo); some of his touchmaps last season were absolutely insane. McDog Posted Thursday at 21:24 Share Posted Thursday at 21:24 I knew it wasn't a pen from my own eyeballs but the fucking laws always confuse me. Maybe a keeper isn't allowed to come out and punch a ball and make contact with someone.

Pope got done dirty, we’d all be screaming at him him he didn’t come for it. Shit pen that took way too long to give that they had to give it. I agree with the first part but I didn't think it was a bright idea to go that far out in a crowd to punch it.
JUICE690 Posted Thursday at 22:27 Share Posted Thursday at 22:27 I thought Joelinton made contact, diverting away from Pope. Haven’t watched back much though as it didn’t matter in the end.

He’s committed at that point, I find it hard to give him shit for it. Probably should have double fists punched it as his trailing arm catches the Palace player.
