Aston Villa vs. Newcastle United: 19/04/25 @ 17:30 (Sky Sports)

Recommended Posts

Checked every Villa player to see how much they have played lately. Its quite impressive how much they have been able to rotate and still keep up the good results.

Rogers, Tielemann and Konsa have all been playing nearly every minutes of their 6 games in 3 weeks though, its got to take its toll doesnt it? Especially since most of them have been hard fought and important games, not like the training exercises we have been having.

Villa will go full strength, they’ve gambled heavily on getting back into the champions league next season.

They haven't gambled, remember they flogged Duran for mental money and the liabilities they took on will likely be returned at the end of the season.

Currently 1/20 to finish top 5. Obviously that's just what the bookies think and isn't indicative of the exact probability. It'll also come right back in if we were to lose on Saturday, but right now we're looking very very secure

We'll be tested more defensively than we have been for awhile.

Hopefully we have one more Arsenal semi-final level performances in us.

But if Villa go all out and play Watkins, Rashford, Asensio, Rogers etc then I think we will hit them in the counter well.

Hopefully don't pick up any injuries or suspensions as I suspect this one is gonna be feisty after the last game. Two clubs don't seem to like eachother much, which tends to happen when you become competitive rivals.

The Sunday before the Leicester game the bookies had us 6/4 for a top 5 finish. They had us down finishing 6th... quite the turnaround from them considering on paper it was 3 very winnable games we had coming up

The other teams dropped quite a few points aswell though. Home against Ipswich should have been more winnable than any of ours :)

Opta have us over 90% now.

I can see anything here tbh. Loss, draw or win all seem as likely as the other.

Anything other than a defeat and it's done. A defeat just delays it by a couple of weeks.

If we do lose, then City/Villa sharing the points on Tuesday and us beating Ipswich and we are essentially back to where we are now, with 2 games less to play. We're in a great position, so won't get myself too low if we do lose.
