Aston Villa vs. Newcastle United: 19/04/25 @ 17:30 (Sky Sports)

As a big fan of social commentary in terrace songs (I still remember singing "We're gonna piss in your water..." to Leeds during the Yorkshire water shortage thirty years ago today, when Northumbrian Water were sending tankers down the A1 to help out), I really hope we sing, "When's your recycling day, when's your recycling day...?" in Brum on Saturday. Would be a shame to miss such an opportunity.

Surely got to make something out of the Alan Barnes song, Harvey Barnes and bins.

Super Alan Barnes

Super Alan Barnes

Putting out his bin, got his head kicked in

Super Alan Barnes

Super Harvey Barnes

Super Harvey Barnes,

He won the cup, gets his bins picked up

Super Harvey Barnes

Crook and Cundy on Talksport both fancy us for the win. Alex Crook actually said he thinks we're the best team in the country at the moment and he fancies us to chase down Arsenal for second.

I'm feeling more positive after last night, both in terms of us putting in a performance, and also even if we do lose, I see it being more of a blip against a good side and think we'll recover.

Has the makings of an epic battle. So drab 0-0 is my prediction.

 Would take it tbh.

Same here. A point and a clean sheet away from home against any team in the top six at this point in the season is decent.

We win this, just read that Villa are unbeaten at Villa Park in 18 games. Apparently they were unbeaten in 17 games the last time we beat them at VP. I love these quirky stats.

i knew we’d win the League Cup when the commentator said Alan Gowling, who scored our goal in the ‘76 final was having his 76th birthday on the day of the final.

I was just talking about ‘we’re gonna piss in yer watta’ to a mate the other week :)

It was bizarre. I looked it up before I posted it and it was the 2-1 defeat on 17 April 1995, exactly thirty years ago (yesterday). Seems like yesterday! I was only 20. 😭

I miss those days of short, pithy spontaneous terrace humour - seems like these days chants/songs are more robotic and every team just sings variants of the same. The two responses to the original post suggested shoe-horning current players names in, which kind of defeats the point and makes it something different.

Asked in tickets & travel but just trying my luck in here also.

Has anyone any experience in parking for in and around villa park? Don't mind a walk of it makes entering and leaving better pre/post game.

Thanks
