I just don't see Howe ever going for that formation. 5-3-2 or 3-4-3 would at the very least be something that we have done before.

My point was BDB has played left back countless times and only Gordon would be asked to play in the position that willock would have but I can see either happening

1st thought on team news was ouch, that's lopsided and gonna be shite. 2nd thought was - Eddie won us a cup.

See what happens.

I'm probably the only one who would rather have Europa over CL simply as we can win it, and add to the collection. Plus it gives you CL next season and we'd be ready.

Highly doubt other teams are checking a newcastle forum for news

Just stops any suspense and dread of who's playing, really

sure they're not, but maybe someone on twitter will pick it up next time with your reputation for being right and then it spreads widely

Yeah, I suppose your suggestion would be almost like a 4-3-3, but with Gordon as an offensive CM. He has player there before for us, but only once I think. Possible, but unlikely imo.

I think we're not ready as well, but I don't think EL keeps our galacticos happy.

Then they should have performed better earlier in the season. Goes both ways. No one can afford them anyway.

This game has turned to a complete unknown now.

I was confident when I thought Joelinton might be back but even without just him I thought we'd be alright.

Now it's a completely new lineup with players playing in a different role or position they have been recently and next to players they might not be familiar with.

I'm assuming Murphy and Tino as wingbacks?

Hoping it pays off but not much off the bench available to change if it's not working.

                          Isak

            Gordon           Barnes

Livramento   Tonali Bruno      Murphy

              Burn  Botman Schar

                         Pope

So something like this?
