The 3-4-3 has looked extremely effective more than once this season, it just wasn't right at all today.

it has looked good when we've played teams we don't expect to dominate. I don't think it's a surprise it didn't look good against Everton.

Not even sure it was a bottle job - our home form this season vs midtable sides (8th - 14th):

W2 D0 L5

(and of course we lost to Brighton at home in the cup)

We are desperate against this sort of side.  We don’t know how to play against them and haven’t learned

Next year my man, add those points next year 🤌🏻

Well villa fans, remember when you celebrated Newcastle getting relegated with such enthusiasm, well fuck you!

Karma eh :D Not to mention how the new kit reminds me so much of the one from around that time as well

There are too many on here who have forgotten how we have played in different games against top teams this season!

Because it's a quite counter attacking setup not suited to pressing up the pitch against average sides. Only works against the attacking teams imho

I’m slightly annoyed that I’m not feeling quite as happy as I should (at this very moment at least)

I get it. Losing is rubbish and, any other season, we're not in the CL, so I feel a bit sheepish and fortuitous. However, 20 wins in the PL is an absolutely brilliant effort and we deserve it on the basis of that. Not forgetting we've overcome the financial structures which set out to pin us down; it's a brilliant achievement.

Absolutely hopeless performance when it really mattered.

I really hope that Gordon went off injured because I have no idea how Barnes stayed on ahead of him otherwise.  Barnes had a very poor game, couldn't do anything on the right in the first half and then vanished for most of the second.

I pray that this was Willock's last game for us.  We may have well brought a traffic cone on instead of him for all he did.  He deserves a lot of praise for the work he did a few seasons back but he's been dreadful for most of games he's played this season.  Time for a new challenge.  Same goes for Wilson.  Pointless bringing him on, completely past it.

Howe got the lineup wrong in the first half but the players were the ones fucking it all up.

2 weeks ago we were in with a chance of finishing 2nd in the league and today we needed Man Fucking United to save us.  Embarrassing stuff.

I think Wilson deserved the last few minutes with it being his last game but bringing him on at the 70 minute mark makes me wonder what goes through Howe's head at times.

One thing is for sure, we desperately need a creative midfielder in the summer,a proper playmaker because we look clueless at times.

My optimistic take is it might be for the best. Lose a few million on not finishing fourth, but an Emperor's New Clothes moment for the club about where we are.
