Whatever bid gets accepted Spurs will just match it and he’ll go there.

I can see why you would say that, but I’m not sure. He really needs to decide where he has the best chance to play and I think that’s us

1-in-3 PL striker in his prime years for £30m is good business IMO, we'll get 2 or 3 good seasons out of him and then there'll be a way to recoup some cash albeit not selling at a huge profit after that.

He'd be such an upgrade on Wilson as the second striker choice it's not even funny.

If he joins and has a few good years here, and appears in the Champions League, getting a bit more visibility, we will probably get this money back from Saudi.

Think this would be a very shrewd move if we can pull it off.

You could almost forget we won a major trophy and qualified for the Champion's League last season with a first team largely consisting of international players for the likes of England & Brazil. We're operating like some bottom half fodder. I'm miffed tbh, I really thought we would go big this summer.

 can only assume you haven't been paying attention to what's been happening this transfer window.

With that said, Wissa joining Elanga would represent a significantly strengthened frontline. I just can't pretend to not be both somewhat underwhelmed and also just confused as to what's gone on and how things are seemingly so difficult for us though. If we get this done, I want to see us go big and bring in some genuine quality to be really excited about at CM and CB, whilst conclusively resolving the Isak situation.

By signing/trying to sign the best players from our premier league rivals? Not really bottom half fodder is it.

State of this place

Some people really are glass always empty/smashed to bits on the floor. Gets depressing logging on ATM

We should have more than enough to get a solid CB and CM now if we get the Wissa deal done.

When exactly did you make this offer?

If it was more than 18 months ago, it could be worthwhile chancing your arm again.

Time hasn't been overly kind to her

How dare you say that about the love of my life

How is signing someone in their prime, with nearly 50 PL goals, loads of experience and an impeccable injury record a 'sticking plaster'? On paper it's an amazing upgrade on Wilson and seemingly at a good price, if it happens. We need players who are ready instantly.

It’s a sticking plaster transfer as we’re paying minimum £30m for a player we’ll recoup much less value on. We are already fighting a massive losing battle financially and signings like this won’t help us other than to give a short-term option on the pitch.

I should also add that I don’t rate him anywhere near as highly as the forum average opinion

Exactly! If we end the window with attacking options of:

Isak

Wissa

Gordon

Barnes

Murphy

Elanga

Then I can’t really complain with the work done

For all the bedwetting over the last few pages, signing Wissa for £30m before moving on to a top level CB in the next couple of weeks would leave the window looking good to very good. Finish that off with Gallagher and I'd be very happy.

Spurs have:

Son

Richarlison

Solanke

Kulusevski

B Johnson

Kudus

Odobert

Tel

To play across their front three positions, I don't see why they'd need Wissa. You can potentially add MGW to that as well.

The MGW link is what gives me some hope. Spurs might rather pursue that than a 29 year old striker.

Could Levy's legendary stinginess play in our favour?

Still think it’s possible we could get Trafford done. If we get a striker for reasonable money.

I like Wissa but if he’s our main striker next season then it’ll be extremely disappointing.

I see him only in context with this season. If Isak goes - which I hope he doesn't - then we'll have more than enough money to sign a damn good main striker to add to Wissa.

We've tried to go big but been gazumped by bigger fish. We're not operating like bottom half fodder. We've been ambitious but fallen short for one reason or another.

We've still bagged a £50m+ winger from a team that was rivaling us for a CL spot that got 20+ G/A last season with the best years ahead of him. Wissa nabbed 19 goals in the PL last season, thats not to be sniffed at?

I don’t know, I was just responding to Tron saying he’s a like for like replacement for Isak. I even quoted it.

I meant  like for like when Isak is out THIS season. Rotations, injuries etc.
