I remember as a young lad in Crown Street, Elswick, I was walking home from Westgate Hill School and had bought a small bottle of Dandelion & Burdock at the corner shop and was knocking it back as I walked.

 

Some blokes were walking in the opposite direction and as they were going past me one said "Next best thing to Broon that lad".

Remember going shopping with my dad every week as a kid and he used to take me into little bar shop thing and we’d have a glass of this sasperella thing, really liked it and to this day I love that memory.

FWIW I agree with you, I am dead set against selling Isak to Liverpool for exactly those reasons you mentioned, my point is that the way the PL has been structured rule-wise means selling our best players is the only way to close the financial gap in the short term. It was more of a comment on the general situation than a verdict on Isak.

Maybe not rivals for the league right now, but without losing out on Ekitike and Pedro, plus getting a few others in midfield/defence we might have been getting close.

 

Clubs tracking our targets very much suggests they see us as rivals.

Anyone arguing that selling Isak, even for 150 mil this summer is anything but a capitulation is living in la la land. Regardless of what replacements we get in.

 

We came into this summer telling everyone, this is our summer to really step up and show we belong. We stated publicly on many occasions we are looking to keep Isak AND sign another big name striker along with strengthening other key positions. 

 

Liverpool came in and said, no you're not getting that 2nd big name striker. We're taking him... and you know what, we are going to take the one you have as well.

 

Like it or not, we are being bullied, and if we accept an offer, we are in essence accepting the place these cunts are putting us in.

 

That's not to say theirs isn't a scenario where this works out for us in the long term. It's just that at this point, theirs no arguing its a huge blow for this season. And for our image as a football club.

I take it you mean the one on Gateshead Hight Street. It was one of my peak childhood experiences. When we walked past and didn't go in it was a bad day. I could get with the temperence movement if that was all they did.

Not sure why there is Dandelion and Burdock chat but I'm hear for it. I'm from Yorkshire so grew up on the Ben Shaws D&B. I live in Germany now and there is a liquorice shop near by, they sell liquorice cola which tastes similar. I've brought the guy who runs it a can of D&B back to try.

We are being bullied though, the system is structured to facilitate bullying.   There are clubs that have all the money and can spend it and those that have money but can't.  It is like being in a boxing match but you're the one who isn't allowed to punch

The system is rigged for sure. But we don't have to comply with them every step of the way. Isak is still our player with three years of his contract left. We don't have to sell to a direct rival if we don't want to. There might be some blowback from Isak's end, but in the end he doesn't really have many options either other than sulk for a week or two. But he's still training so looks like he should be ok for the start of the season if he's still here.

Agree 100 percent. But we are in a position right now to fight back. 

 

Im still waiting for a reason why one of these scenarios is not the best course of action.

 

A. Keep Isak and sign an experienced back up (Wissa)

 

B. Keep Isak and sign his successor (Sesko)

 

Sell him next season once we're actually prepared for his departure.

 

He's not going to sit out the season, he's not going to cause chaos in the dressing room. He will still be considered a world class forward next summer.
