Strand Larsen now then if its doable. 35+5 is more than fair for Wissa and it's more than fair for a club in Brentford's position to turn it down, so I think it's impasse time and we should look at someone else.

If Wolves quote us 70m for Strand-Larsen, Wissa for 45 will look more appealing. Thats the problem, we are in a place where overpaying for a player is now inevitable.

And yet we’re expected to receive an under-valuation offer for our player when we have no replacements

I think they're hoping rather than expecting tbh

We are going to have to overpay for someone, not sure who I’d prefer at this stage.

Precisely.

Personally, I'm all in on Wissa. Anything below 50m and id get it done. Yes its a massive overpay but going into the season without a recognised striker will cost us more than the 10/15m we over pay by.

Yup. No Wilson replacement lined up was not a great strategy.

I'd rather pay £60 mil on Watkins than £45 mil on Wissa

Mate, if we go in for Watkins now, they will ask for 80m... thats how this window now works.

Theres no good deal now.

Agree completely. Not ideal but Wissa for 2-3 years I think would be super motivated and would fit our style of play. We'd get around 15 goals a season from him provided he stays injury free, and could then recoup maybe £20 million from Saudi when we sell him. £30m net plus wages for a player who will help keep our forward momentum and give us room to breathe while we replace Isak longer-term is OK by me, especially if we also keep Isak. We've then got a striker for the coming months and with the pressure off we can deal with Isak more calmly. If Wissa comes in and takes his mantle, scoring goals regularly, it should motivate him enough to get off the bench.

If the worst happens and we fold to an improved Liverpool offer at least we've got goals in the team, AFCON-aside.

Realistically, the Jackson loan deal is the only one that seems plausible after this.

We aren't signing from abroad at this late stage and the others are going to be overpriced.

Agreed. We have no choice and everyone knows it.

Brentford are playing us like a fiddle, most people have this summer. Putting in such a low offer can only mean that we are hoping that Wissa continues to spit out the dummy and drives the price down. Exactly the same as Isak is doing. Pay the 45m plus that it would take or walk away. The club remains a shambles off the pitch and soon on it if we don't buy at least one striker.

I think this offer was reasonable given his age, Brentford just don’t want to and don’t need to sell. If they were looking to sell him this close to the deadline they would give us a number to try and reach, instead of risking us walking away.
