andycap
If I was brentford I'd keep him as its getting so late in the window to replace him. I hope this isn't our only plan mind.
Stottie
The fee shouldn't matter. We're not hard up, even in PSR terms which would only kick in in June 26. The Isak situation is similar, but Liverpool are way further off the asking price. Id expect Isak to go too if Liverpool had bid 130M last week. No,no, my reading is that we are operating openly as a club who want to and will probably buy Wissa. We have underbid twice, but we are engaging the selling club and are not far off a winning bid. Ergo Wissa not in team means "sell" Had Liverpool bid again much higher than the last time in the last few days, I would conclude that their interest was genuine. As things stand, the lack of engagement from them suggests they're not going to get him off us. Ergo Isak not in team doesn't necessarily mean "sell" My main point is that these two situations are no automatically the same

Ergo Isak not in team doesn't necessarily mean "sell" My main point is that these two situations are no automatically the same The whole Isak debate is a red herring. Everyone knows he wants to go — the real question is whether we’ll let him. And the answer, at least this window, is no. We’ve seen this exact story before with big-name strikers: Kane sulking at Spurs, Tevez disappearing at City, Suarez trying to force Liverpool’s hand. All of them wanted out, all of them pushed hard, and the clubs stood firm until they decided the time was right. Wanting to leave doesn’t mean you get to leave — not when you’re the centrepiece of the team. That’s exactly where we are with Isak. He might be unsettled, but we’d rather keep him and ride the storm than cash in and rip up our attack with no replacement ready. Wissa’s situation is a different beast altogether. He’s been refusing to train and play, making it very clear he wants out, though he’s recently returned to training. That’s the classic “push for a move” pattern we see when a transfer is actually going to happen. Brentford are engaging, we’re putting bids on the table, and all signs point to this one being completed. One is us digging in to protect our star, the other is a player actively nudging us toward a deal. So for me it’s simple: Isak might sulk all he likes, but he’s not leaving this summer. Wissa, on the other hand, looks inevitable. Anyone who thinks the two situations are equivalent is kidding themselves.

I won't do that again! Blanco has nailed what I wanted to say. fwiw, I think Liverpool will put a higher bid in and get Guehi. Isak is likely a different and much more complex story. Since we play them tomorrow, I'm trying to say nowt about Liverpool to avoid jinxing it.

They can then activate his 1 year extension, get another season out of him or sell him albeit for less than this summer. Hes not on crazy wages anyway. We do not want a negative answer on Wissa today, because it would put more pressure on our makeshift forward lineup in tonight's match. I reckon a deal is easily doable with more money, and will be disappointed if that is not what we do.
