I just think they want to rinse every penny.

We cant keep bidding against ourselves. We will be back late for him.

We aren’t as desperate now, if we are still interested, we are in a much stronger negotiating position.

Exactly. Sadly, Wissa needs to continue to dig his heels in like Isak.

"The situation surrounding Maxi Beier (22/): Brentford remains totally interested, and according to Sky reports, there has also been an exchange between #BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl and Brentford's sporting boss Phil Giles. There has also been an offer, which was officially submitted to Borussia via email. However, it is said to be beyond the rumored €70m. For #BVB, therefore, not an issue. Beier himself is not tempted by Brentford either.

@Plettigoal

If nothing unexpected happens (or a big club comes knocking), the striker will stay in Dortmund. Wants to establish himself despite fewer playing minutes lately.

@SkySportDE"

Hopefully the've got another potential Wissa replacement lined up...

Other than the "playing in the premier League" element. If we found it hard to attract certain players this summer then certainly Brentford should trying to take a play from a CL club like Dortmund.

The Woltemade capture has eased all tensions around what happens next now, we won't be rinsed by Brentford for Wissa and we won't be forced to sell Isak to Liverpool.

Either possibility is palatable, keep Isak to partner Woltemade or get Wissa in and cash in on Isak, whatever happens we're set.

Scousers can continue to wank themselves silly at the prospect of Isak landing on Merseyside, but unless this deal gets done I just don't see it. The ONLY way we can release Isak from his obligations is if we can sign a proven PL striker who can take his place.

With having the incoming Woltemade transfer, it 'should' give us a bit more angle to put a take it or leave it offer on the table for Wissa (and any other strikers). We'll no longer be as desperate, which no doubt pumped the price up from the selling club. The only issue will be if any selling club needs to sign replacements themselves. I imagine The last price we put in for Wissa may now be acceptable if Brentford think we'd be likely to just walk away, it's probably their last, best chance to get a decent wedge for a player in his last year of contract (which is still over-inflated imo).

Let's sign Beier and respectfully offer Brentford about 20% less than what they value Wissa. Only once they tell us that they're ready though.

That's how you do things honourably right?

Not sure it's possible to look more German.

It's enough to add 10 years to anyone's appearance. Or do all 22 year old Germans look like they are 30+?

I'll be amazed if they sold him - they're risking PL survival without him

But he doesn't want to play for them. Will they get any minutes out of him this season? I guess we need to ask that question to ourselves if Isak stays [emoji38]
