Legal avenues would take far longer than any transfer window.

Is there anything more subjective than 'a reasonable fee'.  If you want assurances, then get specific ones, including an acceptable fee in writing.  For the money these agents get paid you'd think they would be a bit better at their jobs

We are three games into the season and Thiaw has already been labelled Bramble/Boumsong and Elanga an Adama Traore, and there's people ready to escalate and shit on them further all over social media for the players to have to hear about and see for themselves.

Also this idea that fans don't want a player who behaves like this is self delusional. The same fans would have been groaning at every misplaced pass from Sean Longstaff despite him being desperate to stay here. Fans are fans though, they are meant to be reactionary. We need people at the club who can make sensible long term decisions when buying players, and above all buy players who will improve us on the pitch.

I have some sympathy in the sense that I suspect Wissa will be the real loser from this saga. Isak to Liverpool, Strand Larsen to us and Wissa stays at Brentford and very likely never gets his wish of Champions League football.

There isn’t an asking price, they don’t want to sell him. If we (or another club) make an offer that they deem acceptable when it lands, he’ll move on but there isn’t a set amount that needs to be triggered for that to happen.

Desperate for the pay cheque - It is no different to Isak - who was happy to sign a new contracts 12 months ago but now eyes a bumper pay cheque.  It's all about the money.

I do kinda feel for him even though we're in the same situation.

 

Brentford are never going to get Champions League maybe not even Conference League. Very unlikely to win anything. He wants to come here for one of the biggest projects in football towards the end of his career.

 

Isak has all that and wants out for what seemingly seems to be for just more money. He can say it's because he wants PL titles and Champions League titles but there's absolutely no guarantee of any of that.

Would be funny if Liverpool don't win anything for the next 4 or 5 years tbh which is more than possible.

Media circus ensues (probably a directed circus)

 

Player states want's to explore options.

 

Media circus intensifies.

 

Player states via 3rd parties wants to leave for Liverpool.

 

Liverpool lowball offer.

 

Player goes on strike.

 

Player issues me, me, me, statement.

 

Case B:

 

Player comes to understanding with club (evidenced in writing allegedly) to explore options.

 

Player identifies new club and club makes "fair" offer.

 

Brentford reject offer/raise price.

 

Player throws toys from pram and quits training camp.

 

Further offer received/rebuffed and Brentford state nothing possible until replacement sourced.

 

Player resumes training with team.

 

Replacement acquired.

 

Further offer made - rebuffed because "oh we didn't mean THAT replacement".

 

Player still training.

 

Brentford quote thoroughly ridiculous asking price.

 

Player still training.

 

Player issues respectful (to club and fans) and detailed statement.

 

Just utterly incomparable, player shits on a club v club shits on player.
