What is 75% wrong and what could we have handled better ?? We are lillywhite on Wissa.

Hey, sorry didnt see the reply notification.

"Isak - no indication he wanted out, sure he was reportedly miffed Mitchell canned his payrise a year ago, but Mitchell has gone and everyone understood there'd be a new deal tabled. Liverpool tap him up and they and his agent start taking the piss through the media. We say not for sale, they lowball we tell them to fuck off, media noise intensifies, Isak goes on strike (allegedly) the twat has three years left."

We knew he wanted out but he was to get more money for a season as had been agreed with a release and he would leave next summer post WC. Don't pin it on Mitchell, his influence was very much diminished from day 1 following his speech, there are other people I'd look at. His agent and his representative (2 different people) put nothing in the press and the first issues were due to something from within the club and how it was handled (this is what the Swedish coach is referring to). Liverpool talked to us and them for hours and hours but NUFC didnt budge or move stance in a massive show of force (i think we did ourselves proud whilst also not realising Isak was already at peak price). There was an offer that looking at our business from the weekend would have been far better and helped us more i think.

It would still be worth considering 100m + 2 players, sadly one of the options is now at Bournemouth.

So you think you now a player is going to leave in 12 month but you don't think he wants to leave? how would that ever possibly work?

He didn't want to leave 12 weeks ago, he does now because him and/or his agent have been tapped up.

Why would you want to take any of Liverpools cast offs?

I think there are 2 or 3 genuine talents who raised our floor and allowed us to achieve near peak price for a player. All in all the deal would have probably been above value and left us with a lot to spare on a couple of game changing players.

Elliott would have been a very good addition to be worked with rather than 40m on ramsey as one example. The price is 150, id much rather 100 and 2 players that improve us and offer strong depth that 150 where we can only afford one player for that extra 50 and we get slapped by PSR for it

You've obviously put thought into this and respect for that, but at the end of the day, we can't do any business with Liverpool in any capacity. The thought of our world class striker going to them and any one of their cheap scally cast offs coming here would send me on a Michael Douglas Falling Down situation!

haha what a great analogy. I completely get the sentiment too.

The bigger issue i have with it all currently is if we do sell, i have no belief in the current set up to find those names we could use the money on nor finalise a deal so it makes the whole concept pointless.

Well I think we've made some decent signings so far and definitely upgraded our squad. Wissa hopefully gets done and that's canny considering what Isak has done. Isak stays for me by the way. It doesn't matter if he sulks or apologies and plays, we can't give in.

we did have multiple options and tried going for them all.

No we didn’t , it took ages before we made the first move and we keep waiting for the same player until they were signed by other clubs before we try to search for another. It’s the same with Wissa, Guehi etc. where we keep waiting until they reject us.

Ever since Amanda left, we’ve been pretty shit in recruitment, just compare how we signed player out of nowhere to how all our interest were well published and wasting all the time negotiating until other clubs moved in.

£60m? 🤣

Has Fair Market Value been scrapped then?

Truth is he’s never actually been available, it’s all been maybes. His agent has probably been feeding clubs a story about an agreement with Brentford, but Brentford probably see it very differently. They need his goals to stay in the league. My guess is he agrees to a big pay rise in early September.

Same as Isak probably

Haven't we bid twice on Wissa? That is way more engagement than Liverpool have had on Isak. We've also not gone and bought Wissa's replacement from under Brentford's noses. So the situations are not the same.

There may be somebody out there doing fake NUFC transfer stories for clicks or sly payments from clubs and agents, but they would get at least 100 times as much money doing the same for Liverpool transfer stories. So the reporting about Wissa is likely to have far less "fairy stories to get clicks" about it.
