There’s no way he’s still prem level.

Vardy caused us problems last season at their place and they were already as good as down. Particularly in the air but also his movement.

Just saying…

Not sure if mentioned, but deleted everything Brentford related on Instagram and changed his profile pic to black.

Sounds like the type of player we would be better off without.  Can't expect Isak and potentially others to behave with respect to the club if we sign someone who acts badly to their club.

I am speculating but it seems to me Wissa feels Brentford has handled this in an unfair way. Perhaps those reports about broken promises were true, and now Brentford is also moving the goalpost and demand a higher fee compared to figures widely reported. To me the matter is not simply about Wissa not getting his wish but rather he might feel the issue at hand is being mishandled

I hope he writes a letter describing the broken promises and personal hardship that’s been inflicted on him from Brentford.

Feels like a natural step from the social media purge. [emoji38]

He and Isak can fuck right off.

Just as someone from the outside looking in it does seem Brentford keep moving the goal posts on this deal. They sign the replacements and then turn round and demand more money. Its not like the Isak situation where the stance has been the same from us throughout. Not that I condone his behaviour but it does look like Brentford are going back on their promise to him.

I think we should just pay 50M and get him in, preferably this week in readiness for Liverpool. It might be an overpay, but chalk it down to a lesson learned in "do not be slow to replace your second striker when the agent of your main striker is a twat" experience.

Our bargaining position with Isak is vastly weakened by not having another viable striker. The lack of Wilson 2.0 is just as much the issue as the drama with Isak. We would also be in the same situation had some K League kid or a feisty Celtic bod given a perfectly happy Isak a season ender in a preseason game.

not a chance we pay £50m, and nor should we.

The ramifications that has a year or two down the line is too big. Look at Villa now, gambled on big players on big wages and now they'll be losing atleast one more before the window and very unlikely to bring anyone in. We think we had it hard last summer losing Elliot and Minteh, if we start doing deals like this we'll be in serious trouble when we don't qualify for UCL again next year.

I am not sure if 50m is really MASSIVE overpay. Imo 40-45 is fair, especially we think Isak is worth 150m. We are talking about someone who scored 19 non-penalty goals last season (same as Isak) and Brentford’s all time top scorer in PL. i know he’s 29 next month, but we just sold Longstaff who will be 28 quite soon for 15m with only 12 months left in his contract.

Imo he very much suits our style of play and is probably the best option available. Hope we get it done ✍️

Just a question of how desperate we are. I'd rather have him than the guy who has "betrayed" us.

It absolutely is, he does not guarantee goals like a lot of people think. Last season was a very good season for him but it's actually more of an anomaly than a regular occurrence. He is worth more to Brentford than to us, that's why they are asking for £50M, he is not worth that.

I hope we get it done also, but if we pay any more than £40M then Brentford have truly had out pants down for a player that MIGHT score 15 goals for us this season in the league and will have almsot zero sell on value in 2/3 years time

Should put in a bid for Mateta. Similar age.

Everyone does this for long enough and half the forwards in the league will be on strike [emoji38] At least makes it better that Isak is not available for Newcastle.

No chance Palace will sell him at this point.
