Worst signing of the season apparently. I would say Elanga is worse because he's played a lot more and done very little. Wissa would be second in my books.

Good to see Israt on the list at number 4.

I used to argue that Wissa was worse buy than Elanga as there's little chance of him ever proving his worth due to age. But then I forgot to take into consideration that Elanga is a emptyheaded moron with breezeblocks for shoes so there's no hope of him ever coming good either.

Choosing between Elanga and Wissa is the classic 'would you rather lose your left or right bollock' question

Talk is cheap. Not bothering yourself to warm up properly in case you're called on and congratulating our opponents on beating us (in a game you contributed fuck all to) is even cheaper. Bloke is a cunt and the moral of the story is never sign a player who went on strike at his last club, as his moral compass is shot to shit.

Got no interest in anything he has to say. Pound for pound our worst ever signing.

I may be in the minority, but if he avoids injury at the World Cup then I think he could 'get guid' next season.

Maybe not though.

Depending on what happens in the summer (will Eddie still be the manager? Will PIF still own us?) we may be forced to keep him due to needing signings all over the pitch.

It is his own fault he had no pre-season.  He gets zero sympathy from me - was idiotic of the club to buy a player who'd had gone on strike.

I certainly disagree with selling him for pennies in the summer just to get rid. That would be compounding the initial fuck up of signing him in the first place. If you sell now his value is at its worst point. But if he gets a good run in the world Cup and a better preseason, logic suggests he can't be worse in his second season. So we at least might as well get some use out of him, even if he only ends up being like a 3rd choice striker.

I guess one must go to allow  reinvestment in the forward line unless Gordon goes and we get a utility player who plays across the front 3 or dare we adopt a formation change it's either 23 year old osula for a profit (how big a profit depends on what we sell for obviously). Big nick 24 who has talent but may never realise it here or the much older wissa.

It's a hard choice as they all not a sure thing and 2 of them if sold right now would be losses.

We dont seem to get back to our steam rolling days so in tight games having more goals in the side are even more important I couldn't hang my hopes on any of them really at the min.

Wissa may well say the right things happy to be here proud to have the no. 9 shirt buts he's just not been good enough no preseason and coming back too soon is all well and good but that was 4 months ago.

Has to start every game for the rest of the season now IMO. If he continues to look shite, then so be it, but we have to see if we can get anything out of him now.

Once Gordon is peddled he's got to be odds on for the new hate figure, lazy fat cunt etc

Is Gordon a hate figure?  Gordon strikes me as a sort of solid winger, a man profoundly lacking in self-awareness with his pretentious statements but ultimately just a good player who on his departure won’t arouse anger but a bit of a shrug.

Wissa on the other hand will likely be talked about decades from now when anyone of a black and white persuasion talks about the worst signings in the club’s history, and there’s a good chance he’ll be top of many’s list even then.

I was gonna say. Wissa has been getting far more abuse than Gordon. Barely seen anyone sticking up for him.

He’ll come good. Just needs an injury free pre season.

I don't really care about fans complaints that he can't be bothered to warm up on the touchline. This is where I would rather trust Howe and his coaching staff. If they are not playing him it might be because he's an awful person. It might be because he's not match fit. For all we know, Howe might still mean it when he says that he can still come good here after a pre-season.

I think we'll see better from him next season, cause frankly he can't get much worse!

Agreed - I’m perfectly fine with Howe not playing him.  Given the pressure Howe’s under, why would he cut off his nose to spite his face?  There are no doubt good reasons for not picking him.  We get to see some of them whenever he has a wee cameo

Standard diplomatic answer that.

Yep, will be interesting to see if we offload him in the summer. If Howe really believes we bought a good player then he could still deliver 3 good seasons if we are optimistic. If we take a loss and sell him for whatever we can get, there's your answer.

I keep seeing the excuse that he hasn't had large numbers to train with. But why couldn't he just play in the reserves/behind closed doors games like injured players returning used to do in the past? Unless he was, but it seems weird that they keep mentioning that he hasn't had the rest of the team to train with as the reason why he can't get fit.

I don’t like actively disliking the Newcastle United no.9.  It’s a fucking awful state of affairs - he’s the first one where I’ve thought this way.  I know Joelinton was shite there, but the circumstances were different.  Every regular wearer since I started going from Goddard to Wilson might not have all made themselves legends but fucking hell, I bastard love that shirt and often the man in it.  Quinn, Kelly, Cole, Ferdinand, Shearer, Martins, Carroll, Cisse, Gayle, Rondon, Wilson - all of them became legends or at least had great moments, and I never questioned the commitment of any of them.

I wonder if any journo will ever ask Eddie how he intends to adapt if he ever manages to get us in Europe again. All season long, he has treated the Champions League - the ultimate objective - as an excuse, or even worse, an inconvenience. Is he even aware that he's telling on himself a bit?
