I feel like I need to make something clear. I don't "go on here" to do anything. I live here. Don't ask me how it happened.

Okay mate, I'll bow out as I seem to have upset an adult. Not you. No harm meant.

I agree with Palestoon.

I completely guess the reason for the delay is down to last minute Leipzig haggling with Man U to get closer to what we've offered, and Ratcliffe doing his penny pinching in the meantime.

The logic behind Leipzig accepting less is that they are probably happy with both offers. Would they prefer the Newcastle offer? Yes, but 90 vs 85 mil euros are both above their valuation and if the player says he prefers Manu then they might just be forced to accept that.

Id bet the delay is probably Leipzig threatening Manu that they have a better offer, and Manu banking on the fact the player will push that they take thier offer.

I doubt Manu will back out of the deal over 5 million euros. They're just trying to get a bit of a discount if possible

This in a nutshell. Especially when Man Utd add ons easily met. Let’s see what’s announced but I’ll be surprised Man Utd are offering him less than £200kpw. They’ll be offering far more I’d imagine.

For what it's worth, I think 90% of the time players would choose Man United over us because of the club's stature, even though we have CL football and they don't.

But Sesko seems young enough and overconfident enough that he will be looking at two big money moves in his prime instead of just one. His next club is a stepping stone to him getting his big move to Real/Barcelona/PSG etc. in 2-3 years.

From that perspective, the certainty of CL football next season to put yourself in the shop window matters a lot more than if you were looking for a place to stay at for the entirety of your prime. And we're clearly a far better environment for him to improve his game and be put in positions to succeed.

I'm sure we'll have the "HERE WE GO" to Manchester United by the time I've finished typing this.

Don't be bowing anywhere. One thing I hate is two posters arguing because one is defending me.

Just plow on and ignore it, and enjoy DCL.

Should be nothing to decide really we are pushing for champions league every year and are actually qualifying for it.

just beat Liverpool in the cup so shows we can compete with the so called big boys.

man utd stunk the league out have many players wanting to leave, a manager that is happy to slate the team and players in his press conferences. And seems so far out of his depth in this league.

That was last season. A summer is a long time in football. Just look at us …

Wage structure. Nobody gets that now except Bruno Fernandes.

Look at all the signings under INEOS:

De Ligt - £195k

Cunha - £180k

Mbeumo - £150k

Mazraoui - £120k

Ugarte - £120k

Yoro - £115k

Zirkzee - £105k

Sesko would be somewhere in the middle.

Don’t think it’s cut and dry how this one ends, but agree it’s looking shaky.

All I can add after chatting with a few people today is that all the talk of Man Utd being his perceived “preferred destination” is coming from Man Utd’s end. That’s what Man Utd are briefing to the media. It was suggested to me (not definitively, but more speculative), that the reason they might be briefing that is so that if he joins NUFC, they can save face and claim it’s purely a financial deal they couldn’t do… that the player wanted to join them but it was taken out of their hands due to us offering over the odds. I find that notion a bit weird, but just passing it on.

Both Leipzig and Sesko’s camp are communicating, at least to NUFC (and it seems a couple of journalists have picked up on it), that he doesn’t have a preference, likes both projects and would be happy to sign for either.

I think, from the NUFC end, we may make one last attempt to force the issue (whether that’s an additional fee, clause, extra wages or something, I don’t know), but other than that, it’s literally a wait and see what Leipzig and Sesko’s final decision actually is. I’d personally be very surprised if Leipzig just accepted both deals… there doesn’t appear to be any reason for them to do that.

The constant harping on about his preference for Man Utd by every journo on camera and in every single tweet and article, has been so excessive and cartoonish that I am fully inclined to believe it is some sort of ruse.

This whole thing has been so utterly ridiculous and farcical I can only laugh at this point

If all this just turns out to be some operation to save face by Man United and they don't actually follow through with a competitive bid and complete the signing, that would be so incredibly pitiful.

I noticed our latest bid still didn't include a sell on clause. I wonder if that is still a sticking point on this.

Yeah, but. They're still a huge draw whatever.

I can imagine a player who is more concerned about their image or has huge self confidence thinking they can help turn it around.

It's one reason I'm literally not fussed if that's the way it goes.

I've just not been convinced of him ever since Arsenal went for Gyokres (spellcheck needed) instead assuming those reports were right so it's really not intended to be sour grapes if indeed it goes that way.

That must be basic. Mbuemo’s reported was around £250kpw.
