Bizza
To be fair to Ramsdale, he was probably expecting one of our defenders to react to that 2nd goal and not just stand there like lemons watching the ball roll slowly past them.
Lucky
So we have 2 goalkeepers who combined would be ideal but individually, rather less than what we need. I suppose there’s been a reason Eddie Howe has stuck with Pope for the most part. We knew about Ramsdale’s lack of concentration before he signed, now we’ve seen it. I think I can live more with Pope kicking balls to nobody more so than watch a ball rolling past in the last minute of the game.
Chris_R
Yeah I'd rather have a good goalkeeper who can't play football than a good footballer who can't keep goal.

The College Dropout
The shinner is awful goalkeeping. it’s so slow. That’s the problem. He has to anticipate it. He doesn’t move his feet. At all. He doesn’t even take a proper step to dive he standing leaps almost backwards because he’s reacted so late. Half a step to the right and he saves it comfortably. If it was fast like the first fine.

Looks worse because it didn’t fly into the corner If anything hes anticipating it getting a touch off one of the many who should have and thats why hes late over. It takes no deflections and bounces twice before crossing the line. It should be saved. if it’s hit clean and fast fairs. The shinning makes it slow and much more saveable. A scuffed overheard kick from that distance is a bad goalkeeping.

I think I suffer more from 90 minutes of sh*t football, consistently being outplayed by our opponents, feeling like the team has ran out of ideas with no tactics at all. Conceding a last minute goal like this is frustrating, but at least I can still be reasonably optimistic about our way of play.

Any of those obstacles likely to move, swing a leg at it. Ramsadale does anticipate but because its going slow and at defenders hes anticipating the deflection not it trundling through. You see it often enough and like I said earlier, looks worse than it is from the keeper. Edited December 3, 2025 by madras
The College Dropout
One thing I’ve loved about Howe’s team is we have never been weak. I don’t mind being out footballed by sides with more resources. But I hate being weak. Thats been Spurs problem. They are weak. As a club they are weak. So it’s no surprise when the goalkeeper is weak. This team we’ve built has been done with power. Bruno, Tonali through to a prime Nick Pope. Strong players. Mentally and physically. It’s in style now to attack the team or Howe for sitting back and holding onto leads. But to me - we’ve always done that. We might push and press for 60-70 minutes. But we end up defending without the ball. This season we’ve lost the ability to see it out. Part of it is down to the additional fatigue of CL yes. But also Pope hasn’t been at his best. What has he anticipated?that the ball would go more centrally? He has to anticipate it’s going into the far post. Any half step towards that would make it an easy save. There’s no movement to suggest the ball would deflect more centrally. Nobody even dangles a leg at it. It goes through Thiaw far far out.

You watch it again, his feet are bouncing at least twice after the shot is hit. The ball goes to the left of our first defender (can't make out who, think its Bruno) who kinds of thrusts a pelvis at it, to the right of an attacker who has to move to avoid it, then through Thiaws legs then past Burn..... but yeah he should just have flung himself full length as soon as he saw where the initial contact was headed. Edit, its not Bruno. Think it might be Schar. Edited December 3, 2025 by madras

Edit, its not Bruno. Think it might be Schar. I’ve watched it loads. He should take small steps in the direction of the ball or at least position his feet well enough so he can make a full dive. It’s like he’s surprised he’s going to have to make a save. So he isn’t able to dive properly - he doesn’t get any distance on the dive because he’s not ready. It’s a routine save at this level. The kicker is that it’s the only one that was asked of him all game and it went in. The comms are surprised it’s gone in because it’s come from a long distance - slowly. AyeDubbleYoo
He can't even see which way the ball is going. And it doesn't even come off the lad's foot, it comes off half way up his shin. If he moved he would've been purely guessing. Ive watched it laods as well, hes bouncing on his toes not wanting to commit as it goes between two players (one of theirs one of ours, Schar does actually go for it) then through Thiaws legs. Sibierski
He’s going to get a prolong run as Pope out for a while, so he needs to ensure yesterday isn’t the norm for facing shots or he’s just holding fort till Pope is back and we won’t be activating the buy option. Nah, as a keeper you have to commit to trajectory of the ball, you can't wait anticipating a deflection that may or may not come. If it deflects off one of our defenders 3 yards out and wrong-foots Ramsdale he's entirely without blame. He just missed a beat, if he begins his movement to his right half a second earlier he gets to it, and whilst none of us know the exact view of the ball's path he had, I think Romero's body position gives away the direction of travel. It's not a howler, but it's a save he should make.

Bouncing on your toes at a shot that’s travelling is not good. It’s the reason he can’t dive properly and doesn’t actually move his feet or body weight in any direction. No offence but have you played the sport or any sport? It’s bad technique. The goal looks weird because he’s made a mistake.
