Who?

Most are saying we must sign a new keeper in January or end of the season but who?

Very very easy to call for new players/staff but I don't think many will be able to say I would buy AB or C because of XY and Z and they're better than Ramsdale.

Nowt wrong with Ramsdale he wasn't the one wrestling instead of attempting to head a football this evening.

Why does this come up every time FFS

Were many people on here clamouring for Bruno or Tonali before they signed, for example?! Gordon wasn’t a popular signing. Woltemade there were 2-3 posters on here that were keen. Nobody else even mentioned him.

Do we not have a scouting network? Are there no keepers out there better than Ramsdale and Pope?!

Remains to be seen how long football will be the way is the minute with a heavy emphasis on set pieces but Ramsdale looks so unsuited to it compared to three years ago when it was all about using your keeper as another outfield player. You can't have a keeper right now who won't come and claim a cross, it's terrifying to watch.

Was he shite though? He isn’t as big and dominating (not looking for a date…) as I would like, but he made some decent saves and choices tonight.

He's been ropey in previous games but I confess I'm a bit baffled by the criticism tonight.

Ramsdale in the games he has played whether you shit yourself on set pieces or not has done nothing wrong. Nothing....

I had to Google one suggestion SVILAR :cheesy:

He is the one that caught it from a set piece and then walked over his own line conceding a goal... No thanks...

Good point this.

We've been crying out for a keeper who can use his feet, but particularly this season perhaps coming for crosses is more important.

He isn't the answer I don't think, but that doesn't mean Pope is either.

Spot on this, it's unfortunate for him but it's his biggest flaw.

Just looked at stats for keepers in top 5 leagues who stop crosses, surprised Pope was high in the list but someone who is in top 10 and also handy with his feet is Elia Caprile.

Only 24 years old but wanted by both Milan sides. I cant ever remember seeing him play maybe @Curva Sud Milano can enlighten us on him.

I think the backroom are looking hard for a GK either in January or in the summer.

I do think the priorities in the next 2 windows is creative midfielder, 2 full backs, a young CB and a third FW

He's conceded 6 goals in last 4 prem games - when your forwards have to score 2 goals on average per game to have any chance of picking points up then it gives you a hill to climb. Nick popes in comparison is 1.06 goals per game but 22 -24 it was 0.86 average goals per game. In my opinion that's what we need to be getting back to.

I've got little interest in us playing a good footballer in nets who can't keep goal. I'd infinitely rather have a good goalkeeper in nets who can't play football.

Really don't want him in goal vs the mackems. Aside from just wanting an actual GK in nets for a big game like this, they're not (to my knowledge) a high pressing high tempo team that'll pressure our back line, are they? In which case we need someone with Ramsdale's skillset even less.
