It’s the trade off that was mentioned for ages. You lose some of what Pope is good at. To gain a keeper better with his feet and I suppose the question is. Does that improves us overall?

I’d say yes. As Pope has been poor for a while. But tonight just shows to me that Pope isn’t as shit as made out. I don’t think either goal goes in with him in nets.

However, we’ll get used to playing with a keeper that is good with his feet. Plus Pope was making howlers in other ways. So it’s not ideal either way.

The thing that stands out for me is that he looks very small, but that might be through watching Pope for so many years.

Disappointing from him tonight. Doesn't look like there's much between him and the bloke he's replaced, at the end of it all.

He is definitely using creative licence with his height, like all keepers do. Barely looks. 6ft

Either that or he just has bad posture.

Yes he should have done better for the second goal but so should have the 3-4 defenders in front him who stood like statues.

Yep. I also just saw the second goal again and it was Big Dan Burn who actually stopped him getting a better punch out. They ended up going for the same ball.

Don't necessarily have a huge issue with him on either goal tbf. One flashes past him, the other is Thiaw's mistake that he can't react to.

What I have a problem with and always have is his lack of command in the box. Something that we've taken for granted that Pope (usually) excels at.

Although Pope's been flapping a lot as well this season. Prior to that it was his biggest strength.

Pope saves both of those goals tonight. I have this argument all the time with my mates. Pope is a great goalkeeper. As in keeping the ball out of his net. My new age mates think he is rubbish because he can't pass the ball very well with his feet.

Now look at those two debates. Do you want your goalkeeper to keep the ball out of the net or do you want a great "five a side" goalkeeper  that will play "one two's etc"? Yes I'm being sarcastic, but seriously who do you want?

PS, we would have won with Pope in goal.

Let's just forget his fuck ups at West Ham & Brentford to name two, wazzock.

So do we excuse Ramsdale after two games? Pope saves those goals tonight and you know it.

Massively better than Ramsdale. Most of you Pope bashers have had a wake up call.

You must have been pissed out of your nut during the 6 goals we've conceded directly from his shit punching, shit positioning, rushing out like a mental patient at tablet time and shit distribution this season.

Ramsdale wasn't great today but your man Pope has been fucking crap for a while now, you have absolutely no ground to be so high and mighty.

Presumably you didn't rate Bruno's performance today either.

Anyone on this forum can kick a ball with better composure than Pope. It's like watching a fully grown American kick a ball for the first time, the mechanics and muscle memory don't seem to be there. It's fucking weird.

Anyway, we need a better keeper than both of them.

I'd rather he just wasn't shit. I'm really hoping he matures like other 'keepers have like. I'd 100% be targeting a different 'keeper in the summer though.

He couldn't get a clean punch on it because he was challenging for the same ball as Dan Burn. They ended up colliding and the ball dropped to Porro. Maybe he should have done better but tbf Dan Burn would be a problem for most keepers in the air.
