If I may, I think it’s a combination of things. You’re right, his stats are good. But he’s quite a good example of a player who doesn’t pass the eye test whilst getting decent numbers. He just…looks a bit shit, so there’s that. He also appears a bit stupid and is prone to daft behaviour. He’s also at Chelsea and none of us want to be involved in ‘bailing them out’.

We’ve one of best strikers in the world. You don’t replace him with Jackson, it’s a massive step down for a huge price. Makes no sense other than shrug there’s no one else

FWIW - I don't rate Jackson at that price either, but based on the records folk are posting I feel I've been perhaps holding him in a worse regard than he actually is.

 

The Sesko transfer is yet to be 'off', as is the Wissa one and the Isak one is as off as both of those. We all seem to think we have money to spend too.

 

I get it, I really do get it, that it seems fairly shite but fuck me its relentless on here like we could sign any one (or two) of these people and keep Isak for the season yet.

I also think this reporting is a bit disingenuous from Ben Jacobs. “Initial talks” is something we do all the time with clubs. Speaking to clubs, asking availability and asking prices etc is a regular occurrence for all clubs.

 

We will have already have done the same thing with Villa over Watkins, Leipzig over Openda etc.

 

It may or may not turn into anything further, but Jacobs knows what he’s doing reporting it like this.
