It requires pressing out of possession, unless he is tasked with dropping onto the opposition 6.

On the ball though, ball into feet, runners off him, options to drop it back into midfield, it's not a physical as that system Germany played, and I wouldnt be shocked if we see 2 very different styles of wing play when Woltemade is 9 compared to Wissa..

It might take a while, but he'll be absolutely fine and will be a massive player for us. Judging players on international performances is a total waste of time, Spurs paid us £30m for Sissoko on the basis of a good Euros but we all knew that he was a lazy bastard. The German national team is an absolute bin fire right now, not worried at all.

I have no worries, will judge him in our shirt not playing 2 internationals.

Eddie will have a plan and adjust the style, 2 rapid wingers in Elanga and Gordon, 3 monsters in centre mid, quality full backs. We will be fine, German Crouch will be fine, Wissa will be electric.

Can see a shape where it's almost a diamond with Woltemade dropping and Elanga/Gordon looking for the breaks.

Other games where it's Wissa/Woltemade alternating dropping into that hole in a 442 in possession. Another game in a 352 where it's Woltemade and Elanga/Wissa/Gordon and Ramsey, Tonali and Bruno in centre and Livramento/Hall wing backs.

Just think the style of players we have bought give us flexibility compared to what we had.

"another average addition" [emoji38]

Based on your in depth expertise scouting over two Germany games I take it [emoji38]

Out of interest, who are the other "average additions" we are adding Woltemade to? Can't wait to find out.

Why are you taking it personally? Woltermade isn't coming with a reputation of a Messi or a Robben.

I believe Elanga is a poor signing, given the price we paid.

Ramsey- good addition for squad depth

Wissa- Great signing, underrated player

We have a manager that makes average players into good players, and good players into great players. Even if the signings are average, the manager will turn them into good players as he has proved time and time again so its a bit of a moot point really

You're a funny guy I'll give you that [emoji38]

Who cares what reputation a player is coming with?!  "Reputation of a Messi or Robben" for goodness sake! [emoji38]

Too many of you think a signing is good just because of social media hype and how their ratings look on FM or FIFA.

Never mind what the manager wants or requires from that position and how the player fits into his system, and therefore how much of a threat they can be.

Your judgement of any of these players doesn't seem to have much thought or reasoning behind it and so none of it really has any merit.

Woltemade just had a season good enough to lead his former team to their first cup in 13 years I think it was, and you compare him to Osula because you watched two games for Germany.

This is just nonsensical embarrassing stuff. You must be some sort of troll or a clown.

Excited to see him for us. I'm sure he'll be phased in but think when he plays his link up play will massively help us bring others into the game. Shame Gordon suspended for another two games as I think he will combine well with him.

We paid for him a record fee, do you really believe he gonna justify it? I didn't say he is a bad player, I just feel the fee is ridiculous.

We paid for potential as much as anything. From some of the goals I've seen it's not hard to imagine his value rocketing if he can reproduce it in the PL.

When we signed Isak for a record fee after he had scored 5 goals in Spain did you think he was going to justify it?

He's a talented young striker that just had his break out season, and the club have done their scouting and due diligence and like him as a prospect that can contribute and still have a lot of room to grow further.

It is a calculated assessment and decision that has been taken, and not one carelessly done off the back of two random games, like your assessment was based on.

That's why we have scouts and data guys that analyse these players. We aren't just picking out random names from anywhere.

The fee for any talented young player is typically just as much about the player they can go on to become, as it is about what they can do currently.

His fee is not too dissimilar from other young strikers that have moved from German clubs this summer.

You ask me if I think he will justify the fee? Well when we look at the evidence of players that have been signed under this manager then yes, I like his chances of doing so a lot.

You might well think the fee is ridiculous, but you're the sort that would have said the same about the previous striker.

The club disagree with you, and so maybe you don't have all the answers just from watching the last two games for Germany.

It's not even about being right.

But let's maybe give the guys at the club that have done such a good job, a bit more credit than labelling new signings as average or no better than Osula after watching them in two games for their national team that has nothing to do with Newcastle.

I said this before but there's highlights on his performances for Stuttgart. That tell you what sort of player he is, ignoring his whole last season of potential tape over less than 180 minutes of football is kinda crazy.

@Rich Can we introduce a system please where people receive strike if they bang on about whether we overpaid for a player or not, especially before even seeing them fucking play? 3 strikes and they're gone.

Be lucky to get three strikes out of the German Riviere.

Its a big fee, and its your opinion, wich is fair. But why are you writing him off after two games for Germany (the whole team were terrible, and he has not even been to a training with us yet)?

Just looking at the statistics Isak had played 126 games of quality top-flight football and scored 46 league goals by the time he signed for us while Bruno had played 117 top-flight games and had already been called up to the Brazil team. That's ignoring Isak's breakthrough in Sweden and I think with him in particular there had been the sense for a while that he was a hot prospect, one of a small number of young strikers around who had the potential to become top class.

By contrast Woltemade has played 70 games of top-flight football and scored 14 goals. Last year was his breakout season. I think we've ended up with a really exciting and promising front pair who offer us more cover and variety than we've had over the past few seasons. I'm happy that we signed Woltemade. But I don't think we signed a bargain this summer while replacing Isak will be a big ask even for him and Wissa. In an international break I don't think it's surprising that people are getting worked up over our record signing who we haven't yet seen play and who doesn't have a long track record.
