I can understand why Lahm put that article out - Wirtz has shown nearly nothing that he worths that price tag. Yea very technical but ineffective and no output. And that’s not from outside fans like us but from the scousers. If Woltemade becomes a massive hit for us, it will pour extra pressure on Wirtz.

In the end the German knows they can only rely on Wirtz next summer when Musiela is dead. Lahm wants to protect Wirtz.

This Liverpool love-in puff piece will have you retching a little.  Maybe Lahm might ask why Liverpool can comfortably overpay for 'sure thing' players rather than proclaim their supposed genius for doing so?

I'm sure if Newcastle had overpaid for Wirtz and Liverpool had got Woltemade instead we'd just hear about Liverpool's canny knack for opting for future stars etc.

Bag of shite.

Christ, could he have rammed his tongue up Liverpool's hoop any further and harder?

Lahm is clearly another Bayern boy who is bitter we got Woltemade and not them.

The Guardian rims Liverpool. Their football coverage is borderline unreadable.

They also constantly make Saudi jibes at NUFC, which I think is them using an easy noncontroversial target to remind readers that the paper cares about something. They strike me as extra desperate to do this because of the paper's increasingly piss poor efforts at standing up for anything on bigger issues, like Gaza and Israeli influence in UK politics.

It will be interesting to see if the press, the Guardian included, continue to claim Liverpool have a "no arseholes" policy after them signing Isak. Isak would have got a much more condemnation for his behaviour had he been destined for say Man City and not the media darlings that are Liverpool.

Somebody bookmark this shite, let’s see where we’re at come the end of the season.

On a side note, it’s poor from a German football perspective that a former senior player comes out and talks a young talent down like that. No wonder they’re absolutely shite at the moment if that’s how they go on.

Was thinking this as well. He's currently their first choice centre forward and they're all coming out and saying he's going to flop. Arseholes

Can’t believe that article like.  He’s shitting on Nick W there. Not only his ability but his character.

A lot of it comes from Nick W not bowing to Bayern and just biding his time to get his move.  He doesn’t seem Newcastle competition.

Some of what he is saying is correct in value but the way he is saying it is to put Nick down and to big up Wirtz.  And there’s no need for it.  German football has this thing about hierarchy where everyone is expected to be a cuck and follow the natural order.  Wirtz is in the Goethe build, the chosen one, starboy.  The sun shines out his arse even though he’s had a very slow start.  He’s right that Wirtz has the pedigree and that will be reflected in him earning probably 2.5/3x the amount Nick W will be earning. But that’s not mentioned in the article.

He’s also right that Nick W doesn’t have the same pedigree. Last season was his first scoring in the Bundesliga. But players development a different rate.  Didier Drogba didn’t score his first Ligue 1 goal until he was 24. So rather focus on Nick being a late bloomer and his potential to have a career like Drogba or Vardy, he’s just shat on him and belittled him.

Nick will read this and it should fire him up for a long time to come.

Honestly fuck Phillip Lahm

he did that thing they do to downplay black/African players ability to Nick but in a very German way. ‘He doesn’t know what he’s going to do next!’

Lahm didnt say one genuinely positive thing about Nick the entire article. Anything positive he spinned to a negative ‘top scorer at the U21 - ah the best talents have outgrown that tournament and he was old to even be in it’.

Im livid.

An unbalanced and rather silly article, but so what, it's nothing we're not used to. One cost a lot more than the other for those very reasons.

The truth is Woltemade is indeed a gamble, but an exciting one who has every chance of being something unique. He'll need time and patience I'm sure, but we could have a cracking player on our hands.

All the rest is just noise and outside bias.

Lahm acknowledges at the end that he's a Liverpool fan - perhaps he should have done so earlier on.

I take heart from that article. They're worried about us. Slot has been making some bitchy comments too. We gave them a pasting at Wembley and we were the better side for much of the more recent game. I don't think they've figured out what to do about us.

Apart from buy our players and targets?

Not knowing what he's going to do next even if it were true isn't really a bad thing.

Being unpredictable instead of having pre- meditated patterns can absolutely be a good thing.

All in all it's such a weird thing to say to paint that as a negative.

The article was probably co-written by someone at Liverpool. They’re a vile football club and Lahm is clearly an utter cunt. Hopefully his chair is empty at the family table this Christmas due to his unexpected death. Prick.
