I really like him but he was doing my tits in today. Just refuses to shoot, utterly baffling. His confidence seems to deteriorate with every minute he plays at the moment.

I think your confidence would suffer too if Missa kept getting picked before you. The lad ain't a number 9 and Howe refuses to change the formation.

He started the season superbly with nice goals and a majestic touch. He's maybe went backwards but he's not the only player. Our so called big names are offering very little and Howe has wasted the Israt money on an average winger, an average midfielder and Missa.

I still believe that Nick and Thiaw are our best summer signings (and the cheap Japanese winger). Something isn't right within the team, we can all see it. The team only raises it's game for the CL and we'd better fluke the trophy as we ain't getting into Europe next season any other way (maybe the Conference League if we go on a run but that won't keep players or attract players).

I'm gradually losing faith in Howe, the scouts and the owners. Who replaces Howe though if it comes to it? We could turn into another Tottenham.

Don't see him ever fitting Eddie football tbh.

Neither can live while the other one survives with us.

If he has a good showing at the world cup we can probably get most of our money back.

Drama queen

Weird reading these last couple of pages. Apart from one opportunity where he didn’t pull the trigger I actually thought he was our best player in the second half. Slightly deeper and a lot more involved, thought he was best game for a long while. Would love to see him in this role more often

Thought he had a really positive first 15/20 in that role - found good gaps, some nice passes, won his duels.

Then the shooting opportunities happened and he seemed to wilt after the reaction.

For me, our best team performances this season have been with Woltemade in the side and he's an asset with far more upside than Wissa. He should be starting ahead of him as the 'primary' forward, even if it's not a perfect fit.

Generally, Wissa needs to earn his place anyway. He looks half-arsed/fit.

He did look a lot better. But it’s clear to see his confidence is shot, hence the lack of shooting. He doesn’t look the same player as to when he first joined.

He's on to a difficult task with the fans because we often want players to do the wrong thing.

He even got pelters for a header he actually won near me

But at the same time, he could maybe factor in that English fans generally want someone to just do the basics and punt a few shots at goal to show willing.

He needs some confidence, not sure how we get it to him tbh.

Maybe give him a run of starts where he knows he’s going to play like he had when he was actually scoring goals earlier in the season, but there’s so many games and the games are so hard that it might do more harm than good.

I thought today he'd take the penalty to boost his confidence. But then Bruno took the ball away from him.

He was constantly showing for the ball in little pockets of space and everyone ignored him for a simple sideways pass

This lad is a huge talent and I am not having this sell him in the summer notion - we/he need to find a way to get his form back and focusing on getting the most out of him as a regular starter next season as well.

Could do with not fannying away from shooting a ball though.

Maybe, but I only remember that one real chance where he ran from deep. He had some great footwork on the edge of the box which he tried to lay off. Other than that, I thought it was his best game for a while.

Exactly. In the national team, and also previously at Stuttgart, this short passing game is cultivated, including surprising vertical passes. Nick likes that. And Toon has completely lacked that so far. I'm starting to doubt whether the midfielders are good enough to master this intelligent short and one-two passing game. I'm excluding Bruno and Miley from that. They can do it.

I thought it was unwise to just bump him to the bench as soon as Wissa was fit, but I can understand that Howe thought he was getting guaranteed goals.

Especially since Nick's form subsequently declined rapidly. He's playing very poorly at the moment and has lost all his confidence. I was hoping he'd take the penalty today. A goal would be good for his self-confidence.

I thought he played well for the first 25 mins of second half in that withdrawn role. Good with his feet. Good link up play.

Only disappointment with his performance was that one opportunity where he should have shot with his left.

He’s so much better in the AM role with a bit more space rather than being bullied by defenders. Teams have wised up that if they crowd him out, eventually they’ll get the ball off him.

I still think he’ll prove to be a more than adequate signing. Our general play is too poor for any forward/striker to flourish at the moment.

Barnes is the best finisher at the club and even he looked off it yesterday.

I thought it was right to go with Wissa just because Wissa suits the way Howe likes to set up better, i.e, pace in behind and get on the end of crosses.

That it hasn't worked out is down to Wissa himself performing poorly, and not looking very sharp, and the supply lines being woeful.
