Nucasol
Unless Eddie hugely reshapes us stylistically I’m not convinced he’s going to fulfil his potential here. And I don’t think he’s that good enough to rip up our style to do that.

KennyUtd
Feel for the boy but he's looking like a fish out of water. It's like playing with 10 when he starts unfortunately.

OverThere
No idea why we bought Nick when we largely play a completely different way, and a way that I am not sure is sustainable in seasons where we have qualified for the CL.

He wasn’t going to work in our flat 3 midfield system because he had space to drop deep - EH should have figured that out months ago
RUHRLYASLEEVESUP
Touched the ball 14 times yesterday Have to feel a bit sorry for the lad but honestly can't see a long term future for him in the premier, unless there's a radical change of system / formation which is not happening anytime soon Losing Amanda, The rat & being pied by all our number 1 targets is starting to really sting Perhaps a complete reset during the summer would help all

I do feel sorry for him as he's just not suited to how Eddie wants to play - he's trying to find solutions for him but in the PL especially it's not working. I would love to know Eddies thoughts on why they signed him as it's clear he couldn't be more different in profile to Isak. He was having minimal impact on our play even in those games apart from the finishes.

I think next season we'll see a different player as we'll have to adapt. Edited March 1 by duo
KaKa
The talk all week was that he needed to get a bit closer to the striker when we had the ball. 5 mins into the game and I noticed that he had taken this onboard and was looking to stay higher up. And then it immediately became clear why he had been dropping so deep previously. The rest of the team couldn't find him with a pass, hence the miniscule 14 touches. Tonali didn't pass the ball with enough urgency through the lines, and neither did Ramsey. All too slow and all too safe. The rest just mostly gave the ball away never mind finding the pass. The guy is screwed. This period with Bruno out is likely going to cost him big time, as the majority will turn against him I think. This team cannot pass the ball through the lines well enough. Zero
I think it really depends on how Howe wants to play - if he just want to back to our usual high intensity style then we should let Nick go. do bear in mind that the tactic doesn’t really work this season even if Nick is not playing. Pilko
Don't get me wrong, he's a huge problem at the minute, but the amount of focus and heat he's getting in the media is annoying me a lot. If you want to talk about Newcastle, why not talk about us routinely conceding 2+ goals every fucking home game? Because that's a far bigger problem than Woltemade right now and doesn't seem to get a mention. Edited March 1 by Pilko

Since the PL breakaway, we’ve only conceded three goals in four home league fixtures in two seasons - 12/13, and this one. And there’s still five games to go this season. HMSIllustrious
I also feel like the whole discussion is drifting in a strange direction. Nick plays/is played badly at the moment, no question, but the fact that we score twice against Everton at home and leave the game empty-handed points at a much bigger issue than a striker‘s drought. By the numbers our offense isnt even that bad, we just concede too many, too easily.
joeyt
Us not being able to get anything out of our record signing is obviously going to be a big story

Tbh, I said the same thing a few weeks ago re Wissa, and even to some extent Elanga. Very hard to judge forwards when you can't get the ball to them, although both Wissa and Elanga have shown poor control of the ball when they have got it. The truth is, take away our athleticism and a lot of our players are not that good.

Mike
3 hours ago, black_n_white said: I can’t recall him actually taking shots at goal with his feet at all this season. From what I remember most of his early goals were headers? I’d like to see some stats on this. The backheel. If he can get service he'll perform. Our wingers (Murphy aside) are either making space for themselves typically or fucking dogshit. No one is looking to incorporate his skillset into the buildup. So he gets the ball, everyone is fucking standing still like they always are and he gets mobbed, fouled and dispossessed.
Turnbull2000
Wouldn't be disappointed to get £40m for him in the summer. In fact, that would probably be a generous fee. Even if he somehow makes up for his lack of pace with better movement, he doesn't seem to have much in the way of clinical finishing ability.
