At Palace hopefully.

He’s away at Dr Congo duty for the next couple of weeks, so any chance to work with him will be heavily offset by being away in Mexico for a chunk of that for their playoff in Guadalajara.

He'll score a fucking hat-trick and limp his way back in to Newcastle Airport. Nailed on.

He reminds me of ASM in that he’s a technically gifted player that many wishcast into being a better player than he actually is.

That feeling gets reinforced by him being very likable…but yeah, he certainly has limitations.

By all accounts, one of our better players yesterday?

Most of our good attacking play first half went through him in some way. Was unlucky to be subbed - at the very least, thought his height would've been useful for set pieces.

I don’t get that, in first half he had lots of good touches, wasnt disposessed, was in a lot of duels and should have had two assists, why is that not good? Unless you just expect him to be rapid, he has done everything he was asked for I guess.

I don't think he was bad, either.  He was just alright.  He just isn't mobile enough IMO.  But like I said, it was nice to have someone in there willing to get hold of the ball and try to do something with it.  We were worse after he went off.  Out of all of the subs, only really Murphy contributed anything positive.

I don't think there's really any intention to convert Woltemade to a midfielder, Howe is just struggling because he believes we need the intense Gordon press from the front at the moment.

Will be interesting to see what Eddie does when Bruno returns. Time to fit Woldemade for some keeper's gloves?

I hadn't seen that stat, but it rings true to me. While many say our form was off with him up top, our results were much better (for whatever reason).

Everybody jumped down my throat last week when I said Europe ain't happening (in my defense, I often drink to excess) but given where we are after this abortion of a week it really makes sense to give Nick the last seven games to try to regain his form up top so we know what needs fixing this summer, and to what extent. Play with the formation, move some folks around a bit. Why do I suspect that is too big an ask of Eddie?

Got to get this guy back up front for the remainder of the season

I was convinced he was playing up front when team was announced against Everton. I’m fairly sure we still haven’t seen him start with Gordon and Elanga either side, the latter is fucking shite but would still represent his best chance with raw pace either side.

It’s criminal the way he’s been managed and a very bad reflection on the managers rigid tactics.

We’re gonna look foolish if he storms the World Cup as a CF.

Seems the Germany coach has some other ideas as to how best to use Woltemade. Eddie knows one scheme, one formation.

"Nagelsmann claimed that if Woltemade is 80 meters from the goal, it is unreasonable for journalists to expect high goal tallies. He noted that Woltemade is not a "classic counter-attacking striker" who relies on elite speed (36 km/h) to beat opponents from deep positions. Nagelsmann also promised that for Germany, Woltemade would play approximately 30 meters from the goal, where his technical skills and presence are most dangerous."

Let’s see what he does, he’s been shit as Germany manager so far.

If true that tallies with my thoughts and earlier comment when I said away from home it wasn't working but feel at home it was still a better option than Gordon against certain teams.

That’s a fair summary he was shite away from home and completely isolated. At home though he always looked like he might get on the end of something such as the Chelsea game.

He undoubtedly needs some coaching around movement and getting into dangerous areas more, but as Kane has proven you don’t need to be lightening quick and a pace merchant to succeed in the PL.

50/1 for the Golden Boot on BetVictor if that's your thing, each way on top 4. You'd think Mbappe and Kane will be top 2 but pretty open after that I reckon

We’re not trying to make him into a midfielder, we’re trying to go find a way to play him while also maintaining the crazy Gordon press.

Also, he hasn’t been ‘shoe horned’ into midfield, he’s playing there when everyone else of note is injured.
