If it was 1-1 I'd be happy, if we won even happier, but the difference between getting anything out of the game and not was Pope's moment of madness. We did well to recover after their second goal. Kid Icarus Posted November 25, 2025 Share Posted November 25, 2025 (edited) Easy to blame Pope or the capitulation in the second half, but for me it's all about that first half and the same lesson we refuse to learn - our absolutely shit game management, sitting on a one goal lead, and playing like the endless chances we continue to waste will keep coming, then coming out of the match with our dick in our hands. I'm absolutely sick of it The fact we keep doing this and getting taught the same repeated lesson seems to do absolutely nothing to budge the mental block we have to make sure it never happens again by keeping our foot on their necks and being ruthless. Time after time, match after match we put ourselves in this position and it's incredibly frustrating. It needs to end, we need to play at 1 nil up like we're 1 nil behind, because if we don't it'll happen anyway. Or, get to two nil and play like that, doing it at one nil is ridiculous. I get we want transitions, but there has to be a balance of aggression to it still, especially when you've got players who should be fit enough to handle keeping pressure up for 45 minutes. We had chances, particularly on the break but the final ball or finish wasn't quite there. But they had some chances as well. De Zerbi's still a full-on pass-around-the-back nonce. They were very good coping with our high press and looked a good side on the ball. Wish we could do a bit of that, whilst sounding like a broken record, our inability to move the ball out of defence under any kind of pressure is a real hindrence. In the end a keeper howler separated it, though Pope did make a couple of good stops otherwise. Just not a particularly good performance overall, don't think it was awful, but not particularly good.
