Newcastle United 0-2 Aston Villa (25/01/26) | post-match from pg. 52

Wingers and striker just not contributing or missing in action to take control and create something. When it does get to them they look clueless and can't keep it or work into the box enough.

Midfield 3 doing fine as are the defence bar Trips. Our front 3 just don't cause enough issues at all.

Gordon again totally fking useless.

But once again we're sacrificing Barnes productivity to have him there because Gordon doesn't like right wing.

Another fucking shit performance. Joelinton and Trippier the worst imo.

Bollocks Joe is our only thing in the middle keeping us competitive.

They'll target Joe, second half. But his yellow was not a yellow. Onana played the whinge game.

Yet onana was allowed to pull Joe over in the middle of the park with no consequence.

Even game, we’ve created the best chances.

Villa are so lucky, man. Belting goals in from 30 yards every week and Tielemans avoiding two clear yellows is crazy.

This stream break having some trailers voiceover person hyping up the 'Singaporean Premier League' with more background shots of the athletics tracks around the pitches than visible fans in the stadium

Cheered me up that did

Might be best swapping him for Ramsey or Willock more for going forward, need to get back in the game and something a bit different. Would have him and Elanga on for Gordon and Joe at half time

Wissa really has to do more, he’s an absolute passenger with zero movement.

His finishing hasn't earned him his lack of urgency at all.

Nah they deserve to be atleast 2-0 our, system isn't working today we should go 4-2-3-1 with Joe in the 10.

How do they "deserve" another goal? They didn't have one unfairly disallowed.

Why not include our 2 that were brilliantly saved my Martinez?

Villa are exploiting the gap between defence and midfield. Rodgers is drifting in and having a field day.

Ref hasn't helped us and surprised VAR didn't intervene for the high feet on Wissa, but the midfield three being flatter than my ex-wife's tits are now and Barnes, Joelinton and Gordon looking lethargic as fuck have been even more unhelpful.

Felt the attack had to be same after midweek because they did so well, but after 25 mins I was wrong. Legs not there, Joelinton is on burnout (again), Tonali poor with the ball (again).

When you got those two in midfield like this and an attack that looks leggy, it’s rough. Ramsey / Elanga have to on at HT. Would say Wolte too for Wissa because he hasn’t shown anything, but happy to give it 10.

Apart from that early shot Tonali has done nothing to contribute to this game.

Just not getting involved anywhere near enough. The ball hardly ever finds him as his movement is so poor.

Needs to take in a lot more responsibility. The players around him are taking on so much more trying to make things happen and get so much more criticism, but this guy is just jogging about not helping the team at all.

“I’ve barely watched a game of football this season but I know Villa score lots of goals from distance so make sure you close them do… Oh.”

Amateur stuff. Same issues as we’ve seen all season on display here, Eddie needs to sort it out.
