Paris Saint-Germain vs. Newcastle United: 28/1/26 @ 20:00 (TNT Sport)

Recommended Posts

We've had three pops at the Champions League in our history prior to this, and so far this is the only one devoid of anything truly memorable. If we win here, vanquishing the memory of that disgraceful robbery two years ago, then it's four out of four. HTL.

Think there’s about as much chance of Eddie playing two keepers as there is of him playing two forwards in this particular game.

If we see something like this, I would be extremely surprised. Where is that Ben Arfa hope flag when we need it?

Aye, that’s what I’d go with though. Just

summit different.

Didn’t say I wasn’t looking forward to it, don’t care about the extra money either. Still think we get absolutely battered.

I can understand not being optimistic, but if you take money out of the equation then this is easily one of the biggest games of the season. If this were 50 years ago we'd say the league is irrelevant at this point and the biggest games left would be this one, the LC semifinal, and the FA Cup. But everyone reacts so strongly to league performances and I don't think anyone is holding onto title aspirations, so all that's left is qualifying for Europe and earning money to then buy new players. This is a high profile game in the top European competition with a chance to earn a bundle of money and advance further than ever.

This is where I become stuck. How are there "bigger games coming up?"

Even full strength I'd be surprised if we win so I'd much rather we rest key players and prioritise the Liverpool game, would do the same with City next week and prioritise the Brentford game

Though knowing what Howe is like there's not a chance he'll do that and I admire that about him

A reminder of our bench the last time we pitched up here and were one minute and one idiotic refereeing decision from winning:

Dubravka

Karius

Hall

Dummett

Huntley

Ndiweni

Parkinson

Anything is possible.

Not disagreeing with any of that but we did have one of the world's best strikers playing for us who scored our  goal. We dont really have his type now.

As I said in my other post, by bigger, I just mean more realistic. I just cannot see a way we don’t get beaten comfortably.

And one who, as usual, was too knackered to run around after an hour or so, but was still probably a better option than Falkirk’s Ben Parkinson.

Hope I can watch it. My wife is having a major surgery 4 hours before kickoff so the game is up in the air for me. No reason why the Mags can't win, not on top form but revenge from two years ago is needed so as my Indian co-workers sometimes say "Do the needful".

I’m really hoping it’s one of those games where Eddie has us fired up to fuck. I’m not majorly hopeful of it after recent showings, but we will see.

Their recent form is alright, but nothing mind blowing. We have every chance if we turn it on.

4 pops, and you are forgetting the Aaron Hughes pen miss against Partizan and getting ruined by Sasa Ilic

When I opened this I planned to comment: Biggest European game since ... ?

And then I see this:

Honestly not sure what anyone wants at this point. We're playing the European champions with a chance to advance further than ever in this competition (and bank €11m for those so worried about missing out on Europe next year)

Since the Milan home game 2 years ago? Guess it depends on how you see it.

A chance (small one) to get into the last 16 with the knowledge we have the safety net of the playoffs should we lose.

Anyone dreading it or not arsed needs to take a look at themselves ffs.

Our support has become hilarious these last couple of years.
