Qarabag come to the north east to try and create history not only by overturning a 5 goal deficit, away from home, in a CL knockout game. But to score their second goal on English soil in European competitions in over 10 years. Our biggest European capitulations have been, as far as I am aware, 2 goals and both happening away from home against AZ Alkmaar and Sporting Lisbon.

LAST TIME OUT?

WHAT ABOUT THEM NOW?

They've actually had a blank weekend between the Baku bumming and this leg after the Azerbaijan FA allowed them to postpone Saturday's league fixture at Neftci Baku. This will be their sixth competitive visit to England and their results read as follows:

2015/16 Spurs (a) lost 3-1 (Europa League)
2017/18 Chelsea (a) lost 6-0 (Champions League)
2018/19 Arsenal (a) lost 1-0 (Europa League)
2024/25 Spurs (a) lost 3-0 (Europa League)
2025/26 Liverpool (a) lost 6-0 (Champions League)

I can already foresee the 'put the kids out' and 'rest players x, y, z' but after looking at PL sides in the past that have taken a large lead on aggregate into a home second leg, very few changes were made as seen below;

Arsenal's starting XI against PSV last season, after winning the away first leg 7-1:  Raya, White, Kiwior, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly, Rice, Jorginho, Zinchenko, Sterling, Merino, Tierney

Liverpool's starting XI against Porto in 2017-18, after winning the away first leg 5-0: Karius, Gomez, Matip, Lovren, Moreno, Can, Henderson, Milner, Mane, Firmino, Lallana

A strong side still needs to be starting the game, however I do think we could see Alex Murphy start at CB given Thiaw's suspension and question marks over Botman's availability. Regardless, should be a formality.

Howay the lads!

Agreed. Eddie wont want to take qualification for the final 16 a given. He'll probably take more risk as the game goes on and it (should) looks like we are home and dry.

Would start Ramsdale or Ruddy, A. Murphy, Shahar and Neave for this along with 7 other first teamers. Should be more than enough. Ideal for Joelinton to get some minutes to build up his fitness too.

Get the feeling that we may see only A.Murphy start out of the three young lads however and the other two maybe get off the bench.

Most of all would be good to give Trippier a rest and if Miley is back fit give him a run out of some kind.

Only kid I'd start is Alex Murphy at LB. I wouldn't expect the manager to throw in the likes of Neave, Park and Shahar from the start, given they've played 15 minutes of first team football been them. It's still a Champions League game and I expect him to respect it. Hopefully there's an opportunity for them in the second half, maybe even a full half for Neave.

                      Ramsdale

Murphy - Thiaw - Botman - Murphy

       Joelinton - Miley - Ramsey

          Osula - Wissa - Gordon

If Miley and Botman still aren't ready then we're gonna have to just keep flogging Tonali and Burn I guess. Absolute state of the squad.

Surely Murphy can do a job in midfield?

If Wissa is back he’ll probably tell Gordon to go nuts for a half and then bring Wissa on at halftime. This is my best guess based on minute loads but knowing Eddie we will get Trippier, Hall and Tonali all starting [emoji38]
