Do we need to litigate summer transfer responsibility at halftime of a Champions League knockout game when we're playing well?

Good point

Haven't you just described Howe being decisive and really have suggested that the players didn't follow his instruction?

It was the wrong decision, the team were clearly getting carried away taking too many risks and losing their shape.

Listening to that True Faith podcast is ear aids like. Her fucking whiney voice made all the more grating when she's been on the sauce.

Speaking of whiney voices, we seen that toon YouTube fella, with the male version of Charlotte's drawl, going into Killie Morrisons yesterday.

I haven't listened before but thought I'd give it a go after your "recommendation". You're bag on like. That fucking voice would drive you insane. Lasted 5 minutes and had to turn it off. Ear aids indeed.

Used to enjoy the tf podcasts but when Charlotte ‘hosts’ it becomes unbearable - which is now more often.  Her voice and delivery has gotten worse. I’ve tried but I end up turning it off.

The gains made to go up 2-0 in the tie would have been far greater than what we lost going from 1-0 to 1-1 imo.

Fair point, maybe it would have been better for Howe to have said that rather than implicitly blaming the team.

Dunno if it's been mentioned but quite a few of ours kept slipping over last night.

Wonder if ground staff over watered the pitch to try and speed it up and help us. However it seemed to bother us more than them.

They did the same v Leeds and Thiaw in particular looked like he was playing in roller skates.

Not sure how I feel today, probably a bit deflated more than anything. Proud of course but then I always tend to feel proud of this team and manager, because they always represent this club and the fans so well. It was a great performance and the players continue to blow my mind with the levels they're achieving despite the most punishing of schedules.

I was convinced we'd get a result because I always believe in them to step up in these real crunch games, especially at SJP. They did so, and would have been very good value for the win. Without the penalty, Barcelona's xG was 0.6, which is some feat against a team who are absolute goal machines in La Liga.

... Which makes it all the more frustrating that we contrived to throw it away in a completely self-inflicted manner. Bad habits are our identity this season, and they are why the history books will eventually file this season under forgettable. This was a huge opportunity to bank another famous night in the Howe era, squandered. We just don't have it in us this season.

That said, I don't think there's a significant difference between a 1-0 and a 1-1 going into the second leg. Barcelona will surely find the net at the Nou Camp, which means we will have to as well, regardless. It's just that stinging feeling that we could and should've been able to say that we beat them.

Ah well, a great performance and a really enjoyable occasion despite the late heartbreak. Still in the tie, and onwards and upwards.

If it was the other way around last night and Barcelona went 1-0 up in the 86th minute, you can guarantee there would've been about 45 seconds of actual football played between then and the final whistle.

They would've pulled out every trick in the book; taking ages with restarts, going down under the slightest contact and rolling about on the floor etc.

Also the ref would've blown bang on 94th minute.

We're way too naive.

I don't think we were naive last night. Going for a second goal was an entirely justifiable approach and their equaliser wasn't a direct result of that. It was a direct result of incredibly poor decision-making from Gordon, poor tracking from Tonali and an unfortunate rick from Thiaw. We had plenty of men behind the ball at that point.

Barca were away though.

Whether to stick or twist at 1-0 was a way bigger dilemma than a lot are giving it credit for like. Before the game I thought a really good result would have been a 2+ goal margin win, we had to still keep going for it within reason imo. Would have been different if away goals were still in play.

Who would've taken a pen last night with no Gordon, Bruno or Wolte on the pitch. Tonali? Barnes?

Bournemouth pennas was Gordon > Woltemade > Bruno > Tonali > Joelinton > Hall > Miley > Barnes > Thiaw

Also got to look at last night in the context of the tie. Would it be considered memorable if we won 1-0 but get cunted 3-0 at the Nou Camp? Similarly it'll be remembered more fondly if we progress. As the lads said, it's only half time.

Woke up this morning with a right pang of "bastard, so close" angst. The shock of the end and the satisfaction with the performance and occasion must have blocked it out last night.

She really struggles to string a sentence together these days.

Barnes hates penalties apparently which is why he was so low taking one vs Bournemouth

Exactly. It was 10 seconds from being historical, but instead it will be forgotten along with the rest of the season, barring a miracle at nou camp.
