Well..that second half was a total embarrassment. You can not defend that, but hey ho what can you do. Now we need to batter the mackems and have a strong finish to the league season.

Not buying this lessons learned chat. It's bollocks. We don't learn our lessons. We've seen that all season and more.

Move on though. Big game on Sunday.

The lesson learned is to have more revenue and a bigger and better squad? [emoji38]

We can kid ourselves but that is all football is now.

I agree. Too many players rotate in and out of teams for "teams" to learn lessons. Especially if we're not in it next year.

Howe has a big job to be his usual dignified self and pick them up for the weekend.

Ultimately, one of the best young squads in the world, getting past them was always going to be a challenge.

The score doesnt reflect the overall tie unfortunately, but thats all some will see.

We made mistakes but I feel like it needs reiterating that we were playing Barcelona at the Nou Camp man. We weren't the only team out there, half of their line up are Balon d'Or finalists.

Defence has to figure out whether or not to hold a line and play for offside or to drop. 3 goals were just bad decisions and two were glaring mistakes. Can't believe the difference between the two halves.

Think their late equaliser last week had more significance than I gave it credit for at the time. Didn't think it would make a lot of difference, and numbers-wise it didn't, but psychologically it was immense.

Barcelona knew from that moment that we weren't capable of winning that tie and they played with supreme confidence from beginning to end tonight.

I think that pen before the end of the first half was the nail in the coffin.  As before that we looked a threat on the break.  It's like we came out the second half already beat.

Well if only the premier league wasn’t so concerned with restricting teams spending money they could actually compete a bit more in Europe. Assume we will lose the extra place now.

Really weird game, just didn't get up for the second half at all even though we'd shown a lot of fret in the first half.

Barca are incredible like, not talking about this team especially as they aren't that good by their standards but just a constant flow of young homegrown kids getting chances at one of the biggest clubs in the world. If Yamal can stay on the right track he'll be the best player since Messi

Put me off European football in the end that.

The money makes no difference now. Fucks up the domestic season. Too long risk free a league phase. Same shit as the PL, just a different cartel.

It's a garbage tournament and the most memorable thing from our entry in it this season is the manner of which we went out. Pales in comparison to all of our other previous exits which all at least had some epic night. This campaign the wins were routine and exhibition-like meanwhile the schedule was hideously bloated.

This isn't bitterness at going out incidentally. Been saying it all season.

Conceding that second goal was the most annoying for me. A proper shoot yourself in the dick goal to concede. That is not hard to defend but we've been so susceptible to that type of shite playing in a league that has a permaboner for set plays. Annoyance will take a long time to unwind.

Super proud of the lads, matched and at times out performed one of the biggest clubs in the world for 3/4 of the tie, yes we made mistakes, yes we gave away soft goals but what an adventure and we will be better for it next time.

Looked shaky the first half until the pen, but I give them credit for turning it on and being ruthless when we were rattled.

The result is hard to take and a bit embarrassing. We also need to remember we're playing a club €2Bil in debt with a turnover of €1bil. It's hard to compete with a club like that.

Three quarters of the tie were pride inducing; a quarter rage inducing. Not even sure who/what I am angry at (maybe ‘hope’…) but  intend to give full vent to it at the very next opportunity.
