Real Madrid apparently have a low buyback clause which could get in the way, around €8m. Even if they don’t really want him I’m sure they’d consider buying him to flip him later.

Think they said they don't wanna activate it. But if we wait like Trafford last year he could have a great World Cup and they might change there minds.

Isnt the issue on the players side? If there is a clause its an easy deal, but no point trigger it if the player doesnt want to come.

Well this is true do you trigger it to get to speak to the player? With him away with Spain does it delay things?

I appreciate things aren't as easy as put the money down and it's done just feels like if it can be wrapped up before the WC begins if he's near the top of the list go for it.

The fact he's got a relatively low release clause, but the locals are reporting we've opened talks with Osasuna is weird. Unless it's Real Madrid's involvement that's the issue.

I'm sure I read Real Madrid have a 50% sell on clause on any sale made.

We are obviously after a Gordon replacement, we've made bids for the lad who went to Brighton, there's also talk of Munoz and the Abde Eze fella. Probably got competition from other clubs as well so I doubt any of it will be straightforward.

If Munoz has got a release clause then I guess he has indicated that he wants to assess his options before committing.

The kid who went to Brighton is unlikely anything to do with Gordon replacement he playing on the right wing mostly.

That would be stupid business sense from Real Madrid. Even if they flipped him for £30m which they'd easily get, it'd be £20m profit for doing basically nowt.

Supposedly around 34 million release clause surely it could be tied up quickly.

if we don't sort it out with his team before the worldcup you just know he'll have corker of a tournament.

Activating a release clause in Spain means you have to pay a load of tax. I recall years back Man U didn’t know this and backed out of activating Ander Herrera’ release clause when they discovered that fact only to sign him a year or two later.

Whist there is a clause for Munoz I believe the club will negotiate a fee to avoid the tax.

There are tax implications so it’s not the face value you pay, see my reply to Andycap.
