Guest
“You have to play the top teams at some point so might as well play them now”. Bollocks. Give me Japan and Mexico and let’s worry about Spain in the Semis rather than Colombia and Brazil. Similar to Italia 90 really. If we’d faced West Germany in the Second Round rather than Belgium because of our group standing, history would probably have been so much more different. TBG
The phrase. It's shit. Has the potential to ruin the feel good factor the nation has right now

Deuce
Never read of a player signing a “104-week” contract though. I’m just asking for unit consistency.

HaydnNUFC
Transfer window related terminology pet hates of mine. transfer kitty preparing [a] bid closing in starlet When papers say "club x looking at club y star" when that "star" is a player that barely gets a game for club y. monitoring There'll be more but can't brainstorm every one atm. Guest
‘It was a pen but we deserved to lose’. Sorry like but nah. Of all the events that happened on the pitch over the course of the match no matter how shit we were, or how good they were, we earned the right to a penalty to make it 2-2 with what would have been the last kick of the game. Contentious decisions fair enough, but that tonight is just wrong.

LFEE
Probably one for the complete opposite kind of thread but not sure it exists... Unless he’s talking about NUFC I generally find Simon Jordan a breath of fresh air when talking about the running of football and the general football culture. Away Day Gadgie
The current trend for every pundit saying, “watch his movement here” when analysing a goal. Fair enough when the player’s movement is exceptionally good or clever, but half the time it’s just what you would expect any footballer to do. AsprillasShinPad
My current pet hate has been absolutely ruining games over the last couple of years and is now ubiquitous. I've always hated diving, including exaggerating contact and would love to see referees dishing out more bookings for non-fouls where players throw themselves on the floor and feign injury. However, there has been zero effort made to cut cheating out and I'm now resigned to the fact it's tragically here to stay. My specific pet hate which has really taken off is the common tactic where a player who has the ball realises he's going nowhere. They then shield the ball and as soon as the defender tries to tackle, the attacking player throws themselves forward to the floor throwing both legs out. Rolling around in agony holding the lower back is optional. Referees seem to fall for it 100% of the time, meaning it has become a staple part of the game. Tackling is now no longer part of the game, which saddens me.

ToonArmy1892
Sky Sports showing replays of an incident when the game is in play, sometimes you can hear the crowd roar or groan or whatever, something is happening but they are too busy showing a replay, then quickly cut back to the game, but have missed it. And showing someone 'important' sitting in the crowd when the ball is in play.
