Paully Posted Thursday at 13:11 Share Posted Thursday at 13:11 I had a feeling after the cup parade that they'd realise that 65K isn't enough - I'd go for 75K personally.

From Luke "I think we all need to wait for final plan to be made public" Edwards. Three weeks ago he posted that and he's posted at least two more articles about it since. Never believed the figure being banded about. Don’t think thats been officially confirmed or denied. I always felt 69,000 would be the sweet spot. Fenham Mag Posted Thursday at 14:23 Share Posted Thursday at 14:23 If they're changing their mind on capacity at this late stage, they'll be miles away from making any announcements. I think baldy is wrong on this one.

gjohnson Posted Thursday at 14:34 Share Posted Thursday at 14:34 Simple conclusion. Edwards knows as much about what is going on as the rest of us. ie nothing beyond rumours and conjecture.

I think baldy is wrong on this one. If I was in charge, and saw the 29th, I would be thinking yes this crowd is euphoria and joy, but shows what we could fill at absolute maximum. Let's assume a 50% loss for people just making a day of it. Take another 10% who just happened to be there, another 10% who wouldn't be able to afford a ticket, let's say 5 % for corporate or boxes. That works out to 70-75k as realistcally fillable as long as we're performing well

Said that on Sunday. Have heard since that the club (& council) were shocked at the enormity of the turnout that day. Not sure if that’s comforting or not 70K feels it makes it all worthwhile and fits the clubs no empty seats agenda. 75K feels more future proofed and where I’d be aiming for if possible on the correct site which possibly is the issue. The closer to the current SJP site possibly the smaller the space allows it to be.

This 16% ballot success rate backs that up.

Building on Castle Leazes would give us an NE2 postcode. For what it’s worth, the Arena site would have given us an NE4 postcode.
