Benwell Lad
I wouldn't use the Stack as it's just not my type of place, it's all about the ale quality for me, but to imply it is having a negative affect is just ridiculous. Every single bar in town, irrespective of what type and who their clientele tends to be, are absolutely rammed on match days.
JT24
Seems like the issue they are pretending to care about is non-matchdays. So where venues haven't changed how they operate for a different culture, they are shocked that people choose venues that have more to offer. AyeDubbleYoo
Try providing a better product or lower prices lads, isn’t that how the market is supposed to work?
TBG
Growth should benefit many businesses, not just one mega-business.
gbandit
This isn’t some shit where people are forced to go with one provider, e.g. Water companies or Rail companies. This is one of the free market areas that makes sense to just rely entirely on where customers want to spend their money

I would have more sympathy if this was coming from a publican with a single boozer, but the likes of the Vaulkhard, Malhotra and Ladhar groups have substantial portfolios of property and leisure which will still likely be making a very healthy profit overall, despite The Stack drawing on a percentage of their trade. Some properties in those portfolios they would have gained from businesses in trouble due to their existing venue popularity. HaydnNUFC
I never go in Stack, place isn't my vibe at all nor was the one at the bottom of Northumberland Street when it was there. However its laughable, that. They want to have a look at their mad price rises in the last 3 years. Was a fiver or less for a pint at the end of 2022, now its well over 6 quid in most city centre pubs. Costs the same to drink in Newcastle as it does in the vast majority of London now. We went out drinking on the Saturday before the final and the prices in Soho were identical to town. Had a deek at my bank statements to gauge the increase in the cost in my usual pre match haunt of the Bodega; was £4.70 up until April 2023. Then it was a fiver up to February last year. Then £5.20 from March to November. Now its £6.10. Gone up by pretty much 25%. And for what reason? They can't blame any COVID fallout anymore. Surely the whole idea is we want to encourage investment and new venues in the area, not to mention the new stadium. This sort of nonsense can fuck off and whoever is plugging it like that pleased to meet you lot should be boycotted by NUFC fans to put them back in their place. NIMBY pricks assemble. Exactly same as me, I don't like stack or those type of venues but the likes of town wall etc need to look at their ridiculous prices to why people aren't going in now (I know a decent amount of costs are bad nowadays, thanks Rachel etc, but I don't get how Newcastle is as bad as London nowadays. I went to Bacchus which is another one that charges £6.40 for neck oil for example the other week as I went to dabawal and it was totally empty except 3/4 people.
