Stifler
If we get an 80k capacity stadium, then we’ll be bidding for every major sporting event. Champions League, even Rugby’s version. Bids put in to the NFL, every major concert. As a side note, as well as having an integrated fan-zone so that we can show games to fan who can’t get in, I’d also love something like LA COSM. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCKiUHypL5X/?igsh=MTN0eWh3MHUyMTBscA==

But cup games and run of the mill league games? Cannot see it. At the minute there’s huge demand but if people can pick and choose their games the demand will go. Bradford was fairly easy to get tickets for as well.

I know quite a few people who couldn't get sorted for Bradford like. With an 80k stadium (Bradford would have been allowed 8k tickets) that would near enough leave sold out. We sold out Wimbledon last year easily at 1 weeks notice with the venue switch. We'd easily sell out every League and CL game and even early round LC games v Lower League opposition wouldn't be far off.
Kimbo
Would PIF spend a billion, or whatever it would be, on a new stadium, but accept not owning the land it’s on?

Yeah. They would easily make the money back, and as already said we’d likely sign a very long lease, minimum 99 year lease. An 80k seater stadium, and we could easily become a club with a value of £10bn in the next 10-15 years.

TheBrownBottle
Newcastle is far too small to host a CL final, and wouldn’t have the infrastructure to hold one. 16 minutes ago, Stifler said: £2bn stadium but can’t build a hotel? You’d need more than a hotel. We also don’t know what PIF are willing to spend on a stadium - and £2bn is an insane build price.
Kid Icarus
Newcastle could easily host a CL Final, very little if anything would need to change even now tbh.
Sima
The city isn't big enough to host a Champions League final imo. We don't have the hotel rooms.
Wallsendmag
Not sure about that. We successfully host the Rugby League Magic weekend most years with around 65/70k fans visiting, the majority of whom make a weekend of it and there's never been an issue with accommodation, or lack of it to my knowledge. Not sure if there's some UEFA directive though to say a hosting city needs X amount of hotel rooms.

Keegans Export
Quote Uefa ranks stadiums across Europe in four categories, with one being the lowest and four the highest. Only category-four stadiums can host major finals. A category-four stadium must have a capacity of at least 8,000 and meet a plethora of other qualifying criteria, which include stringent rules on facilities including: Pitch and dressing-room sizes Level of floodlighting CCTV coverage Number of turnstiles, media working positions, and parking spaces for broadcast vans and VIPs Regional infrastructure - like airport capacity, number of available hotel rooms, and transport - is also taken into account when bids are appraised. What about stadium capacity for finals? The men's Champions League final is typically held in stadiums with a capacity of at least 65,000, and in the past four seasons only stadiums with more than 70,000 seats have been chosen. I don't think the stadium itself would be the issue, more Newcastle as a city itself. Look at the list of non-COVID affected final venues - Munich, London, Istanbul, Paris, Madrid... Stifler
You’d imagine that they will be taking everything into consideration. You don’t build one of the best stadiums and neglect adding the infrastructure so it loses out on hosting other events. I think the Stack fan-park alone will have at least 2 hotels out on it, one of them possibly being a 5 star hotel.
Wallace
You would need all the 5 star hotels for the UEFA personnel and all their hangers on as well as for the hospitality market. Probably don’t care that much about the fans.

Cookie1892
within a short drive you have plenty places to stay for fans the teams can use the likes of those on the quayside, the hilton etc, and then further afield you have plenty premier inns, the village hotel, and even hotels in Durham and sunderland with easy access into newcastle

They're set up for vast numbers of visitors pretty much all year round. The city can probably handle a CL final but if it's between Newcastle and London, Madrid, Berlin, Paris? UEFA have no need to risk it on the basis of a "probably"
