I couldn't believe that when I read it...but jeezus - 23 goals against in 30 games. They must have someone(four) out injured cos theyve been hopeless tonight and that left back looked like he was stuck in cement as soon as Messi picked up pace. The marking on Etoo there for the 5th...jeebus. I've got no idea how theyve managed to conceed so few goals, they look shite!

Maradona was in complete control from the moment he got the ball, no-one came close to taking it off him.

And why do you think that was?  :crazy2:

f****** monkey heed chasing him down the wing at 1mph. great defending that was  :uglystupid2:

Some great skill in there but for me there is far, far too much luck involved for it to be considered a great goal. Maradona was in complete control from the moment he got the ball, no-one came close to taking it off him.

Luck?  mackems.gif mackems.gif

Yes, that's right.  All luck.  If Joey Barton was in that position the exact same result would have occured because it all down to luck and Getafe's defence.

What a load of shite.

Pele has just said that Ronaldo is not the best player in the world yet.He wants to see whether Ronaldo can maintain this kind of performance for the next 2 years or so before he can be regarded as the best player in the world, which I rightly agree.

The thing is, you see genuine class youngsters like Ronaldo & Messi...and you still get numpties who think Rooney's the best young player in the world.

Aye, Rooney hasn't developed as much as Ronaldo in particular......wouldn't say he is THAT much better at 20 than he was at 17, whereas Ronaldo has added many more layers to his game.

But there was no luck involved whatsoever.  Luck is Maradona's handball, or Roy Carroll against Mendes.  Not running from your own half, beating 4 players, rounding the keeper and scoring from a rather hard angle considering it was his weaker foot.

Also remembering that Getafe have the best defensive record in La Liga, so they're not exxactly some mediocre team.  I'd imagine it'd be pretty hard to tackle one of the world's best players running full speed at you.

Well the defending by Fenwick & Reid for the Maradona goal didn't exactly cover itself in glory did it! I think it's possibly better actually tonight. The footwork was niftier and the pace was frightening.

Right, he goes past 4 players and the goalie.

The first one is purely down to luck, the defender misses his tackle and Messi holds him off as he barges into him.

The second one is great skill and pace to stay away from him.

Third one (The left back) never makes any attempt to tackle him, absolute statue.

Fourth one (Centre half) lunges in with Bramblesque naivety - and while Messi almost knocks it past him, he still gets a toeend on the ball and that gives him the angle to go around the goalie and takes all the pace off it for him to retain control.

Fith one (goalie) is candy from a baby.

Some great skill in there but for me there is far, far too much luck involved for it to be considered a great goal. Maradona was in complete control from the moment he got the ball, no-one came close to taking it off him.

BTW, if goals against defenders as shite as these are allowed to count as great, David Nugent vs Palace earlier on this season was better IMO.

I agree, great goal but didn't exactly blow me away..

Great goal.

One of my absolute favourites is Ibrahimovic's goal when he dribbled through quite a lot of players (was it against NAC Breda?)

Not the best league you could say but still one hell of a goal..
