It's Allardyce! (according to THE SUN!)

Glenn Roeder will be Newcastle manager on September the 1st.

If he isn't - ban me.

You know - everyone knows - that you aren't ITK, and that you are only saying he'll be here becayse he "has a contract". As if thats ever stopped a manager being sacked.

Not that at all. I just don't reckon he'll get sacked. Or resign.

FS has seen through Roeder. He's gone man.

Knowing Shepherd as well as i do, ;), i just don't think he wants to get rid of him. Largely due to all of this Geordie nation stuff... he's already dubbed Roeder an adopted Geordie, and he knows that someone like him gives him the best chance of his dreamy team-of-eleven-geordies.

Plus, he's already promised to give him the players he wants in the summer.

He'll sack him 10 games-ish into next season, i reckon.

Promised to give him the players he wants???? You believe that?

He did Souness. And the domestic situation was just as dreary, if not worse before that particular summer.

Not after he's sussed him. He got rid.

I know - he sussed him when two thirds of the season, £50m and the chances of being a good side had evaporated. What's to say he won't do something similar once again? Like i say, Shepherd knows that keeping Roeder gives him the best chance of this uber-Geordie-race on the football pitch, and i only think he'll get rid once the situation is absolutely critical.

Obviously, i'm praying that i'm wrong.

If we lose at home to Blackburn, i might think otherwise.

Would allardyce's backroom staff be accompanying him? he employs 21 full time specialists, without them he may be much less effective, O'Neill without Robertson and Walford, or Dalglish without Harford, for instance. Though, if Allardyce is given carte blanche to bring in whoever he wants and revolutionise the running of the club from the top to bottom, he'd be a very good choice as manager.

It's definitely the case that for Allardyce to have the kind of impact that makes him worth the bother, "backing the manager" would mean Freddie doing more than just providing some funds for players.

It would also mean us lot being patient for a while. I doubt there'd be instant fantastic results. Allardyce, or any manager, would need a season or two to get things sorted.

Probably not, but the difference here - to any other manager - would be that Allardyce would know who to appoint. Whereas the likes of Roeder wouldn't have a fucking clue.

I think there would be an immediate improvement, not to the levels we think we SHOULD be at, but just getting rid of the existing cretin would make us better.

Yorkie, don't you think it's a bit strange Shepherd hasn't come out and denied these rumours about Allardyce already? It took far less speculation about Sven for him to make a statement on the official site. I doubt the results in our last two games will have any bearing over his decision, by the way.

Its not like we ain't given roeder a chance I mean he has had a few transfer windows, hours of time with the same players on match days and in the training ground. Had a small advantage in the sense that he has seen some of the young ones more than most mangers due to him being in the academy first. An yet time and time again he has failed. Even if owen had of been fit and we give the team 10 more points on the board it still isnt good enough or where we want to be. With Sam I feel I have hope he would at least make the right choices in a tough spot the ability to grind out results, was why I've always hated bolton but it would be what I would love about us annoy and frustrate teams and grinding out a result.

It has surprised me, actually...

Phil Brown as Assistant? Least gives Shepherd the excuse to hire at least one Geordie.

Try getting him away from Humberside now. He's probably got freedom of the city.

I really hope we do have the foresight to capture Allardyce, however i doubt it.

There are two glimmers of hope that i am hanging onto.

1. Nearly every paper has runned the story, either today or recently.  They may be copying one another or someone knows something.

2. As has been commented on, Fred has denied anything. The only logic that could explain this is that because its near the close season he's been concentrating on new players and has not had time or he's trying to sell season tickets.

Ah right, didn't realise he was in management.

Aye, he's saved Hull from relegation. I'd thought the same thing as you, but nah - there'll be no getting him away from there now.

What gives me most hope than Big Sam will be coming in is that there has been no strong denial from the club. The fat man moved quickly to dispell the Sven rumours a few weeks ago.

A week ago I would say there was a 50/50 chance of Sam being manager for the start of next season now I think it 70/30 in our favour!

I think your being optimistic mate. For me it's closer to 60/40 the other way. However, i'm slowly edging closer to allardyce. I believe we will find something out in the next couple of days. Either fredd will deny it or the rumours will get stronger.

Something everyone seems to forget about Allardyce is that it took him two seasons before he got Bolton established in the Premiership and could build on it. Would he really get 1-2 seasons at Tyneside before he starts getting results?

And by the way even though I think he would do a better job than Roeder he still hasen't proven himself at a club that accuatly has high expectations. I belive he could lead the club back to a 8-5 th finishing and maybe even higher but can't see him beeing the new big thing (even though he is pretty big...). So for a short period of time (2-3 seasons) he might be the right man for the job but if NUFC ever want to try to win the PL again I have hard time seeing it's gonna be with Big Sam as manager.

Meanwhile, Roeder is trying to stay focused on United's last two matches despite all the talk that he is going be replaced by Sam Allardyce at the end of the season.  that says it all for me anals line without a denial or rubbishing the storys coming out .

Difference there was that Bolton had a pretty shit team with no money.

We've got a good team with good players and money to spend.

He only sussed him when three players collided.  bluelaugh.gif
