Speaking of Robert, do you think he ever regrets turning down Allardyce when Bolton came in for him just before he joined Portsmouth?

 Aye.

His website may have a fan's comments section, someone should ask him.

Just read in the spanish sports daily "AS" that Luque's dad has arranged a loan deal to Spanish Club Levante for our battle hardened left winger. It all seems to depend on whether Luque lowers his wages to adapt to the other club, seemingly our leaders have sanctioned this (if I remember correctly!).

Just as I thought he was going to turn it all on it's head...never mind!

LEVANTE NEEDS NEW FORWARDS. LUQUE COULD LEAVE IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS. HIS FATHER HAS TALKED WITH THE CLUB. HE DOESN'T FEEL AT HOME IN THE CLUB AND WANTS TO RETURN TO SPAIN. ANOTHER MEETING TODAY WIOTH HIS AGENT.

LUQUE HAS TO REDUCE HIS WAGES FROM 2,7 MILLION TO 1.5 EUROS.

PROBLEM WITH LUQUE IS THAT HE ISN'T AN OUT AND OUT GOALSCORER, STATS ABOUT HOW USELESS HE IS....

Gretna have signed French defender Aurelien Collin and claim they are close to signing a striker from the Premier League in England.

Collin, 21, has been on the books of Sedan, Amiens and Real Mallorca, without making a senior breakthrough.

Manager David Irons said: "He impressed us in training and he will be a great addition to the squad.

"There were several other clubs interested in Aurelien, so we are delighted that he has chosen Gretna."

In a short statement from the club, Gretna confirmed they will sign a striker from the English top flight "within the next week", but did not identify their target.

Andy Carroll? Makes sense if it is (on loan of course)

All the spanish sport newspapers say that Rafael Luque (the father of Albert Luque) is in Newcastle today to convince Mort to let Luque go out on loan. For this to happen Luque will have to take a reduction of his wages (actually he earns 2,7 M € a year at Newcastle and Levante only can offer a maximum of 2 M a year).

In Super Deporte there are quotes of Julio Romero, chairman of Levante F.C. He says:

"Luque will be a positive player for the team, but all depends if he can leave Newcastle. He has been a useful international and I hope that in Levante he could be the brilliant player that he was in Deportivo."

"His wages are a setback, but we know that he wants to leave England and Newcastle has the word."

"The effort that we can make depends on the demands of Newcastle".

"Also say that nobody wants to sign Laurent Robert and this is a problem because he is out of the team".

Español is also interested in Luque transfer. It looks like that everything could be resolved today.

Crikey.

See you later then Albert, I guess.

Would have liked to have seen what he was capable of this season (in an ideal world), but probably best that he goes his own way really. He was, after all, a great player in Spain.

Not really fussed either way. His opportunities will be limited here so as long as we aren't expected to pick up some of his wages he could leave. If not, he offers us another option up front alongside Viduka, if Owen or Martins are unavailable. With Owen's injury record and Martins unavailability due to the African cup, that could easily happen.

Sam said recently that he was happy with his "5 strikers".

So that's Owen, Martins, Viduka, Ameobi - but who does he see as being was the fifth? Carroll or Luque? Both have been the subject of loan speculation.

He was including Alan Smith I think, which isn't great news for Luque or Carroll
