Guest Toon83
Just to let all the Barton haters know, City won't release his papers to us until they have this sorted out so its not Barton's fault. Manchester City have to pay all severance pay etc before they can release the players papers in order for him to sign his contract with newcastle united

Mind I'm in no doubt that prick of an agent of his is behind it all, after all wasn't he the one who negotiated a release clause into his contract. Still, they are both pricks and this is typical of players and agents today.
Dragon55544
Greedy b******. God I hope we don't sign the cock. Greedy? Why because he's asking for what he feels is rightfully his? Fucking hell if you was owed £300k i doubt very much you would say "Nah i aint greedy so i dont want it"

They also put the clause in therefore they also are held accountable for the trouble being caused right now. So easy to jump on Barton as of his bad boy image, but the club he is leaving is thick as mince, and deserve to be taken to court over this. Put Joey Barton aside, and the club are the ones to blame for this mess, just because its WM & JB are any toon fans sticking up for citeh, if it were Parker (professional) & another agent we'd all be going nuts. Guest Knightrider
If it was Kieron Dyer or Carr or whoever doing the same to us, holding up a move and trying to get extra money even if they were in the right, there would be hell on, in fact there is hell on over Owen. Aye it is Man City's fault for being daft enough to insert a clause but howay, something has to give here. If Barton had any respect or compassion for Man City, even just the fans, he'd write it off. Others have in the past. KK went unpaid for a few months here at NUFC when he took over as manager and even paid Terry Mac's wages and said if we go down, I won't want anything. Gullit for all the stick he gets waved his right to compensation. Bad karma for us either way.

He should waver it, and in a couple of articles its been reported he will waver it, but its blew up again, don't know the reason or if those articles were right, maybe he feels if he drops that, the club and Dabo should drop the assault charges. He should drop it, or ask for the money be donated to charity, something like the 'shit footballers who are battered by their team mates foundation'
BONTEMPI
I for one would drop the deal! He's not fantastic by any stretch of the imagination! Skeletor
Considering he's set to make a supposed £12m out of us in wages over 5 years, what is 300k to him really? Silly boy.

This, and the fact he's away on holiday at the moment, is the reason I reckon the agent is behind all this. The guy's a twat as well of course. oldtype
As usual, whatever Willie Mckay touches turns into steaming piles of dogshit. tbh, if Barton had any brains at all he'd recognize the PR nightmare that this is causing him and give up on the 300k. Do you really think he is going to give a shit about what the papers say about him, when his bank account could bloat even more so, with £300,000 being added to it? Hardly like this little saga compares to the shit he's been through with the press and various supporters in earlier phases of his career.
brummie
If I were Joey Barton, I'd be thinking the following: - I've got the chance of a quick move to another big club. - I smacked fuck out of a team mate, something I don't really want to be drawing any more attention to. - I've got the chance to wipe the slate clean and make a fresh start. - I've done well out of the fact that my sell-on clause is relatively low, meaning more money for me. - I've got a new set of fans who are going to need a little convincing, given my somewhat chequered past. - I've done well out of being at Man City. They stood by me during all my previous problems. I pushed them into a corner. They (esp the fans) deserve better than this. Yes, 300k is a lot of money, but in the long run, he'll make a lot more than that out of not taking the piss, and making his departure from Man City as painless as possible. I was in the "fuck it, so what if he's a cunt, he's a good player" camp, but this is making me reassess that situation, as i suspect are a lot of people

TRon
Looks like Joey might still end up in the slammer once the dust is settled. His past misdemeanours will be held in a new light if he insists on being a bonehead about this one.
midds
I'd do a lot for £300,000 that was rightfully mine. If you had a few million tucked away, you wouldn't give a shit. Barton may be legally entitled to the money but he certainly doesn't deserve it. Greedy fucking arsehole. Couldn't give a shit if he's virtually our player or not. If he's acting the cunt, he's acting the cunt.

Thespence
We know he is going to join us, it is just a matter of when. This is not costing NUFC, as long as we get him for the start pre-season training that will do me.
