Guest s0ftcore
Was playing Winning Eleven 6 earlier so I'm curious, what happened to Andy Griffin? I liked him when he was playin for us. No-nonsense leftback who never gave any quarters. Would have been a helluva pirate. I reckon he's 28 now since it said he was 23 in the game (his age showed up when he got yellow carded). Reckon he'd be decent if we can't get Baines in?
Dokko
Griffin was a RB, last i heard he was at Stoke, being injured as per usual.
toontownman
aaron hughes = peter ramage tbh - works hard, plays multiple positions, ultimately not good enough Exactamundo! Steer well clear. Hughes actually got worse when he left here. Ramage isnt any worse and is good enough for our back, back, backup.
Mr. Snrub
Andy Griffin makes Carr look like Cafu, he is that shite. At Pompey now, ain't he? Aaron Hughes over him ANYDAY.
Cajun
I would take Griffin over Hughes.
Guest s0ftcore
Well, but doubt we'd get any of them anyway. The last time we got somebody from our SBR Europe-chasing days, he didn't end up havin a game. Apparently, he lost too much weight -.-"
brummie
Griffin scored a stunning goal against, I think, Coventry in the cup last season.
Tsunami
No no no. We should not be even mentioning bargain basement signings. Just a thought, we don't know what system Sam will play & he has a midfield of Milner, Emre, Butt, N'Zogbia, Barton, Duff, Dyer & Solano to chose from. Roeder tried Nobby at right back & Sam has apparently mentioned Dyer; how about giving Milner a go? This may suit Sam's formation & would allow Dyer the flexibility to play on the right without perhaps having to hug the touchline. Do I like Dyer? No, do I think he could be a real asset if motivated? Absolutely. Do I think Milner could play RB? From what I have seen Milner could play most positions adequately but I don't think he has the pace to be a top winger.
Guest
Deary me, no thanks. Amazing how Souness got a canny bit of stick when he sold the likes of Hughes, Bernard & Ambrose, yet they've all done f*ck all since they went.
Guest Alan Shearer 9
people comparing Ramage to Hughes should be shot repeatedly in the face and genital area. Hughes is far better than Ramage, although that's not saying much tbh.

Colos Short and Curlies
This thread is for real? Too effing right! Not as a first choice (or even first reserve) but someone who can adequately fill in 3 positions for £1m.
gazza ladra
No.

Guest khyberpass
I thought we were trying to move forward, not backward? Lets at least buy an older, quality defender like Campbell, Hyppia, etc who can teach Taylor and Edgar the trade...
Guest Steven_MB
Tsunami, do you actually expect me (or anyone else) to read your posts, considering both your avater; and the incredibly long time I've been single??

Lets at least buy an older, quality defender like Campbell, Hyppia, etc who can teach Taylor and Edgar the trade... This isn't about bringing in A Hughes to partner Taylor or Roze etc Its about a decent backup player for peanuts who can adequately provide third tier cover for 3 positions
toontownman
If its about a decent backup player for peanuts why are we talking about Aaron Hughes? He was mediocre at best before he left, since he has left he has gone drastically downhill from that. Worse than re-signing Lee Clarke.

bodson
Its amazing how we NUFC fans can overrate our own players! Bring back Hughes or Griffin!? Has everyone gone insane? They are shite and we must be aiming much higher.
